What Scope?
Would an Nikon Prostaff 2-7x32 be a good choice for my accura?
Im a little worried about the eye relief.I plan on sighting it in for 100 yards.I DONT want a bdc scope so any reccomendations?I dont want to spend a ton either because im getting a new Optima and will have to get a scope for that as well. I jsut dont want to get a mark on my head everytime I go to shoot or while hunting. |
That scope has a eye relief of 4 inches. I think it would be a great scope for your gun.

will this fit on my accura?I didnt know if the holes on the optima was the same on the accura?

When I went to buy a scope for my White Ultra Mag I went to a gun shop. I know the owner and he's a square shooter. I asked him to recommend a scope for the rifle. He kind of laughed and said he could sell me a lot of expensive scopes but he recommended the Nikon Pro Staff in 2-7x32mm. He said he sells a lot of them scopes and no one ever brings one back in, for service or trade.
He also said their light gathering ability is excellent, their clarity is outstanding, they have excellent eye relief, and a great warranty. I did end up buying the scope, and liked it so much I have bought two more for other rifles. That Pro Staff has sat on top of my White for hundreds of poundings shooting a large conical bullet. Its on Warne QR mounts, and goes back to zero each time. Its a great scope. The only two I like better is my Nikon Omega without the BDC (I do not need one either) and my Bushnell 3200. They were more money though. But not really better quality, I like them for their 40mm. You will find that 2-7x32mm is all the scope that rifle needs unless your shooting out past 200 yards. Then I might go with a BDC. |
I plan on shooting it out to 150 yards, maby 200 but no further.
Sounds like this is the perfect scope for me. |
For the money, I don't think you can beat any of the Nikon Pro Staffs. I have had one on my Omega for almost 3 years. It gathers light really well in low light and has plenty of eye relief. If I had to buy a new scope for any of my guns today it would without a doubt be a Nikon Pro Staff.
Two weeks ago I bought a $1,000 Kimber 84m and had the wife's blessing to spend up to $500 on a scope to put on it. I put a Nikon Pro Staff 3x9x40 on it that I got for $150 at Bass Pro. What does that tell you? |
I have that exact scope on my 12ga slug gun with no problems. Plus that gun gets a beating every time out on deer drives. And the clearity is just as good as any high dollar scope.

I like my Nikon 2-7. Its a dandy scope and the price is very reasonable.
|
ogg, I have a Nikon Pro Staff, yes it's a good scope but I also have a Bushnell Dusk to Dawn ML Scope 3X9X40 that I got from Cabela's for $89 and it's just as nice if not better than the Nikon and cost almost half. The eye relief is plenty as I have it on one of My ACCURA's.
If I can remember right it's sighted in 2"high at 50yds, is dead on at 125 and only 2"low at 160yds. (BP) |
I was going to get that one but it has the circle x reticle and im not a fan of that.Im gonna try a Redfield Revolution 3-9x40.It has 3.7-4.2 of eyerelief, good price, and all the reviews ive found on them are positive.

I've owned most of the scopes on the market today that are used for hunting... without question I would reccomend the Leupold 3x9 Ultimate Slam for any modern inline..for one reason, the dots get smaller as the range gets extended and it makes for better aiming points..the circles on my other gun stay the same size and cover the entire animal at 200 yards and even at 150 if it's smaller.. and the ability to already have the marks to adjust from 2 or 3 pellets and also the shotgun marks makes this scope almost perfect.. once you use one you'll be amazed and the dots are right on the money with the bullets they reccomend.. never mind the clear and bright..it's hunting perfect..

The Pro Staff 2x7x32 are great scopes. I have them on my CVA Wolf, Knight KRB7, Remington 870 slug gun, and will be picking up one for my new H&R USH 12 gauge slug gun.

Well I use a BP/Shotgun Tasco Bantum 2.5x scope on my H&R Sidekick:
![]() My eyes are as bad as the next old guy and this scope is perfect out to 100 yds. I hunt in Virginia and it is pretty rough and thick in my woods. This past year I took five deer and this scope workedvery well in helping me fill my freezer. And before anyone says they need a variable scope just remember that most of the sniper guns during WWII had 2.5x scopes on 'em. Oh yeah, did I say these scopes go for only $37.00??? They can be found in Wally World. :barmy::barmy::barmy::barmy::barmy: |
You'll get no argument from me rafsob. As you probably know, I'm a real fan of 4X fixed powder scopes.
|
I agree with the fixed power scopes. My old eyes do just fine with the 4 power (out to 100 yards) I have on my 3006 center fire.
