a good ole' fashion Nosler Partition or Barnes X-bullet will be more than enough for any elk that ever walked the Earth..................

I have never hunted elk with a muzzleloader. But if I were headed out after them my rifle would be loaded with one of the following;

460-500 grain Bull Shop Conical
250-300 grain Barnes Expander
300 grain Nosler Partition
maybe ... 300 grain Hornady SST

It would all depend on the rifle I was going to shoot and the conditions I was faced with.

Again, NO SABOTS allowed in Colorado.

However, the Thor bullet is a barnes X bullet conical.

I have shot two elk with a muzzle loader. One with a 370 grain T/C Maxi Ball, and the other with a Hornady Great Plains 385 grain. I prefer the Hornady over the Great Plains. I have a pretty good stock of them right now, though I have thought of getting some No Excuses a try. But then again, I know the Hornady works, so why change?

Later,

Marcial
