bullets
The other day i picked up some bullets that were laying on the ground, up where i have been shooting paper for the past 2 year or so.
All the bullets started out weighing 300g, at least that's what was on the box. I washed them some, and took these pictures: The bullet on the far left is a 45 caliber Gold Dot, which now weighs 297.5g. Moving right the bullets are a 45 caliber Nosler weighing 231.2g, a 44 caliber xtp weighing 270g, a 44 caliber xtp weighing 225.8g, a 45 caliber xtp weighing 289.8g, and the shell on the right is an xtp. There were several laying around that looked like the one on the right. |

Try a refresh, or reload; they will come.

That's what I like about Gold Dots. You're gotta love a mushroom with a stem. They perform much like the Barnes bullets at about 1/3 the cost.

I agree, I have about 400 300gr Gold Dots I bought. I haven't had much of a chance to shoot them but they do show promise. I like the mushrooming and they shoot as well as my 300gr Barnes Expander.

I already tolt cha dat BP Actually, the Gold Dots seem to give up a little accuracy to the XTPs in both my Mustang and X7. But I'll accept an inch larger group for the performance of GDs. |
Sure, what the heck Semi - the way you shoot, what's one more inch?

There are a very few bullets that work as good as a Gold dot especially the 250 on deer. The few that do are expensive, for the price they are in a class by themselves.

double ditto to you... but everybody has their favorites and it is awful hard to break something you really trust and has worked for you in the past... I know that for positive, but I am old so I have earned that right - right? Same as in my mind there will never be a break open rifle that is as accurate as a bolt. It really gets Tom when i I say the only place for a break open is in a shotgun and that will only last for awhile. |
