Default 2f JSG VS 3f APP

Simply amazing. All 3 of us, My dad, brother and I took the sidelocks out to 50 yards this morning. Shooting 100gr JSG 2f, 295gr AT Powerbelts, all of us were averaging anywhere from 2 to 3" groups.

We were pretty cold after that and called it a day. I cleaned the rifles and then said, To hell with it! Got the reloading supplies, a can of APP 3F, 63 grains onto my scale ( thats 80gr volume) 295gr AT, head out the door, mark the holes in the target and fire the cva mtn stalker 3 times and end up with a 1" group ( Upping the charge next time out!!)

Went back inside, got my brothers cva hawken .50cal, same powder charge and bullet, first 2 shots touching! Next two shots, 1/2" lower and still touching! Got that one figured out pretty quick.

Tomorrow if its nice out i'll take my dads hawken out with the same load and see how that does.

Simply amazing how one grade wont shoot for chit and the next shoots beautifully.

Our sidelocks seem to only shoot good with the 3F grade American Pioneer while my inline shoots both perfectly fine. Its head scratching things like this that always get me in the end!

I've been wanting to try the JSG. My hunting buddy and I tried the APP 3f - he in a 54cal Hawkins and me in a CVA Optima Pro. I tried various loads, but could not get consistent velocities - I mean varying by 300 fps with weighed charges. So I gave up and went to T7 2f. My buddy had better luck, but noticed his accuracy drop off near the bottom of the jug. The APP varies a lot from fine powder to kitty litter consistency. Does the JSG 2f have more consistent grain size?
