T/C .54 cal Renegade kit

I've been looking on the net for a .54 cal Thompson Center Renegade kit. It's kinda spotty finding them (Gunbroker had one for auction but that was the only one I could find). Does anyone know of a place on the net that sells them?

I do not think Thompson Center makes the kits anymore. Especially in that caliber and model. I am sure some kits are out there in someone's closet, but they are rare. You'd be better off getting an older model Renegade on one of the auction sites.

Hmmm, if that's the case, if I wanted to build a .54 cal Hawkins is there one that you would suggest? I was looking at a Lymans kit at Cabela's today, do you know if that is a good one?

Lyman's is a very good kit. Also check Cabela's . They used to sell some .54 caliber Hawkins kits. The Cabela's kits are through Investarms which is the same company that makes Lymans.

Personally the Lyman Great Plains rifle is the one I like. A roundball twist barrel and in a good caliber.

Check out Cabelas. They should still have the kits.

TC is no longer making kits and they are very hard to find. This is where I would look for a Lyman Kit.
You might also consider buying the individual parts and making your own.
This site has a wide range of information.

Scroll down to MUZZLE LOADING & BLACK POWDER FIREARMS AND PARTS
and look at the suppliers you can make up your own kit or get a set of plans and go from there. I have built some rifles on a set of plans I got from the ST Louis Museum they are drawn from an original Hawken. Lee

I had a friend try and find that exact gun. The only reliable place was from the T/C custom shop, but that was going to cost him hundreds more than the kits for other models still available.

I have a 54 renegade kit that I made, and haven't used it for hunting in years, but would never give it up. My first one and one I "built"!
