Optima vs Optima Mag

I have always been a TC owner. Now I want to get something to dedicate to the new BH209 powder. I am looking at the two rifles in the thread title. The gist of my question is what is the difference between the two? I see that the release for the barrel is located in a different position. Based on the name I will assume the Mag is rated for heavier charges? BTW I usually shoot 80-90 grains so I am not a magnum enthusiast. Thanks for any help...I plan to make a trip to the store on the 24th and would like to be armed with as much info as possible.

All of the Optimas are rated for 3 pellet loads ( Mag)

check out cabelas, cva has a new and updated version of the optima.

Thanks for the link. Any opinion on how the Optima compares to the Accura? So many of these guns seem almost identical.

thats a tough one. i had the old original style optima and loved it. The accura though as of last year was my sweet tooth candy. The new optima has the finger removeable BP + new stock design and now a SS barrel. IMO, you cant go wrong with either. The Accura V2 will be out this May with the same breech plug and recoil burners.

MountainDevil,
I appreciate your replies. Which would you choose and why? Are there subtle differences that would cause you to prefer one over the other?

In my limited experience, the TC rifle, i own is more reliable than the CVA rifle i own when it comes to BH209. I believe it is because of the shape of the muzzle end of their breech plug. I don't really have a lot of experience to base this on, but i can say my Omega has never misfire, nor hang fire, but my Accura has done both.

If it were me, $250 for a finger removeable BP and sweet trigger, I'd go with the new optima. Its hard to match that kind of quality and price. The only reason i put the new optima first over the accura is due to the breech plug they come with + the price.

Thank you. Good info.
