What happens when and if you need a follow up shot, your shots wont be where there sighted in for??? A fouled bore shot will shoot the next shot in the same place.
Try getting your barrel squeaky clean for a follow up shot at a deer, I prefer to load and shoot and know where Im gonna hit. (BP) |

And what's so bad with a fouled bore for Hunting, it's not like your never gonna clean it again, and when your at the range you dont fully clean your barrel spotless between shots do you? (BP) |
Which powder makes a lot of difference.
With some of the ascorbic acid powders its normal to get 20 or 30 shots before cleaning. You also need to take special precautions to keep the humidity out of it unless you live in a dry area. Pyrodex the first sub and a very good powder, usually shot 2 to 4 times depending on the gun and load then swab. 777 a very accurate powder, it some times gets a very hard residue in the area just in front of where the bullet sits. You need to swab every shot. Blackhorn, The clean when you get home powder, will shoot accurate all day without any swabbing, it is good to clean the carbon out of the flame channel between the primer pocket and the touch hole with a drill [turned by hand ] just take out the carbon not any metal. This powder is more expensive than some but not as expensive as 777 pellets. Since it reduced the size of my groups beyond any of my expectations I really like it, I also like cleaning the gun at home and shooting it at the range instead of all the swabbing. Lee |
What happens when and if you need a follow up shot, your shots wont be where there sighted in for??? Well, I guess I might have once. I don't see that a follow up shot (which is most likely to be at close range anyway) that hits two or three inches from point of aim is going to be a problem. |
It took a long time and a lot of experimenting but my first shot will be right in that minute of angle group with the last one. If the same method would work for any one else I have no idea, I do know it works for my Triumph and that the knew Endeavor does the same [that made me smile] Lee

Thanks for all of your responses guys! I'm shooting a CVA Accura using 250 Shockwaves and T7. I shot with 90 and 100 grains and I found I was more accurate with the 90 grains of powder. I did notice that hardened residue around near where the powder and sabot was sitting. It took a little work getting it out but the barrel is now squeeky clean.
