The last two times I been out hunting with my C.V.A in the SNOW it cost me two deer. I go too shoot and the gun wont go off put in another preimer and the gun goes off......I keep my gun very well maintained and clean, u think from the snow is there moisture getting in there? Im a greenhorn when it comes too ML Ive only hunted with the gun three times the first time I shot a 8pt and was real accurate but the last two times i went out in the snow the gun wont fire........The first time I just thought bad preimer and now the second time it's starting too **** me off and want too hang it up.....thanks for replys IA

What powder are you using? ive been shooting in snow storms and temps in the low 20's for a couple days with it and zero problems. Only thing i can think of is that your primers are getting wet or at least getting moisture inside the primers.

I shoot the tripple seven 50g pellets, I specifically loaded up in the truck cause of the snow....like u said theres moisture getting in there somehow

Ahhh pellets, there seems to be problems with those lately, doing just what they are to you. You really should switch to loose powder. Do you have Any loose blackpowder/subs? If you do, put maybe like 5 grains down the barrel first and then load up your pellets, the loose powder will help ignite the pellets.

I Hunter our Late ML Season with lotsa Snow and Cold & minus Wind Chills and never had a problem. Plus I leave My ACCURA loaded after the Hunt it goes from the Cold to the Warm Truck then to the Warm House then back to the Cold Truck in the Morning, then Warm Truck out into the Cold then back again.....Zero Problems.
I also cover the end of the Muzzle with a pice of Masking Tape, I have done this for years and Hunted in the Rain and Snow, Zero Problems. Many Times I have Hunted in the Rain for 3-4 Days straight with the same load in the ML and it fired just fine. The only thing I do is change my Primer after I come in from a Hunt and put a new one in each time I go out. Try covering the end of the Muzzle. (BP) |
did you clean the bore before you loaded it from the truck? condensation builds up just like a center-fire will when it goes from hot to cold....i e your truck to the outside weather.

Perhaps shooting off a primer or two prior to loading may help. It cleans any foreign material out of the flash channel in your breechplug.
