Which round in a 1:48

Just wondering if anybody swears by a certain conical/ sabot in their guns with a 50 cal 1:48 twist. I am currently using the Hornady 240 grain xtp and really like them. Again wondering if anyone has any luck with anything else. I am using 90 grains of 2f Goex in the load and 4f goex in the pan.

Stay Safe,

Kelly

Any good fitting bullet between the length of a PRB and .75 of an inch should work.
Ballet and real bullet are good so is a PRB but I personally prefer a 230gr Gold Dot for longer ranges.

I was shooting a 250 grains XTP in a black Harvester crushed rib sabot out of my T/C with a 1-48 and was very pleased with the accuracy.

These 240 grain TC lead HP bullets & Break-O-Way sabots with 90 grains of Pyrodex P really shoot great out of my 1 in 48" Traditions Deer hunter. And they even have the same POI at 50 yards as patched round balls so no sight adjustment is necessary.

I've had good luck with a Lee R.E.A.L. bullet in 250 grains. My T/C NewEnglander also likes a Lee 340gr .457 cast bullet in an orange MMP sabot.

A lot of my practice is at 100yds on paper usually about 1.5 to 2 inches which I thought was pretty good out of a intermediate twist. I have shot a deer just a bit farther than that with it 120yd by range finder.

I like the (Precision Rifle)300grn Extreme Elites in my 1/48 twist FL.

Not QT"S Extreme Elites.

the MAXI-BALL 370 was made for the 1-48 twist........DONT USE ANY MAXI-HUNTERS........

also the 295/348 powerbelt works good.use 348 for deer hunting and very light loads around 80 grs of 2f........
