Got a Sow Last Evening
2 Attachment(s)
Went deer hunting last evening, the last day of OK deer gun season. Took my Encore because it was loaded and needed to be shot.
Opened the gate and drove about 300 yards. Two sows with pigs came out of the cotton field. They stood for a moment and then took off. Exited the truck, and assumed a good sitting position. Lead the larger of the two sows by about six feet and fired. Heard the bullet hit the animal: Bang flop. Range: 90+ yards, quartering away and running full tilt. Gun: Encore Scope: Zeiss Conquest 4x32 Bullet: 250 grain SST in Hornady low drag sabot Powder: 100 grains of Goex Pinnacle 3F Primer: Winchester shotgun The wound shown is the bullet entry. The bullet did not exit. This sow had been eating wheat from the field behind the cotton. BTW: Hogs in this area sometimes eat mature cotton for the cotton seeds. It seems to be a food of last resort. Makes really funny looking hog poop. |
Nice sow and really nice shot!
Holiday ham on the run :guiness: |
congrats on your sow

Way to go Falcon. That is some fine shooting. I am kind of surprised the bullet did not pass through. What do you think caused that? Was there massive internal damage?
|
Excellent Falcon! I'm so bad at moving targets I don't bother to try the shot on running critters (except hogs). :s2:

Looks tasty to me. Congrats.

Good shooting. Going to smoke the whole thing? That's what I did with my last one, it was superb.

Congratulations nice porker

I've shot hogs using the Bonded Shockwaves and they have been pass throughs using 110 gr pyrodex loose. Their front quarters are like rocks and unless you have a solid bullet it will fragment. It really does not matter as long as you put it in the kitchen. Good eating for sure. I usually smoke mine until it falls off the bones and add your favorite sauce along with your favorite beverage and you have one heck of a meal.
