.209 primer custom job

i live in Nazi Oregon, and they do not let us shoot a .209 primer. i bought a couple of the tc encore's .50 cal. i was told about a guy in oregon that can convert that barrel to open up the primer area and refit the breach plug? have any of you guys heard of this?

Haven't heard of such a thing being done. From how I would guess it's done, it could be expensive.

from what i hear they just machine a notch out like the omega?, or whatever that other primer model tc makes. then they pop that breach plug thiny out and mill a new one to match the new primer. they made it sound like its like $100-150. hope this comes to be true. other than that, i love this gun. cant wait to get some centerfire barrels.

OH5, check out E Arthur Brown on the web, 800-950-9088, they make a conversion for the TC, its a complete breechplug conversion, it uses a 25 acp for the ignition. From what I've read its worth the money. $59.00 :barmy::barmy:

Never thought o' that sqezer. See if you can use rifle primers in Oregon!

OH5- Let me know if you do come up with contact info for the guy in Eugene. I'd be interested to know if the option exists. You can PM it if you don't want to post it publicly...

BigZ, I'm looking to get one for my TC also, just to let you know this will not work for the PRO HUNTER. :barmy:

I was thinking of giving the conversion a taste myself. I'd like a cleaner breechblock, and less blowback in general. Too much to ask? Hopefully not!

I've never had much blow back out of mine but the accuracy really sucked, even with the 25-06 heavy barrel. I did put an adjustable hinge pin in it this fall. It brought the factory Hornady 117 gr. SST into where all 5 shots were touching at 100yds. I'm just getting ready to clean the 25-06 and put the .50 back on. I still have 5 more days of ML season along with a 4 day antler less season. Be heading to the range tomorrow. :patriot::kt:

just curious, how this wouldnt work for the pro? does it have something to do with the thickness of the barrel where they would mill out a exposed hole? i know it sounds touch and go, but these guys at sportsman warehouse in bend oregon where 100% about this being done on a nmuber of guns thus far. they said they saw the results and it looked good. with that being said i wish they had the contact name and number for the guy who does the work... i am still doing some recon to get it though.
