Endeavor or Apex Help Me Decide
I'm looking an getting either the Endeavor or the Apex for my first muzzleloader. I have always wanted a Pro Hunter and the new endeavor sure looks sweet. I recently started researching the new CVA Apex and I am impressed with the reviews so far. Now I can't make up my mind. I'm planning on picking up a .223 barrel as well.
I have heard several horror stories about the rifle barrels not fitting perfectly on the TC. I thought that maybe it would be beneficial to buy either rifle with the rifle barrel already fitted and then pick up the spare .50 cal barrel. What do you guys think? |
I doubt you would go wrong with either rifle, but the Apex will do it all for less money. Finding an Apex is a bit of a problem just now, but that supply situation should be resolved soon. http://www.sunrisearchery.com/Apex.htm

Apex. Comes with an adjustable trigger. the encore styled rifles do not have this, most people i see on here have bought trigger kits for their encores. The price they charge for the rifles, they should come with a smooth crisp trigger.

I can't find an Apex anywhere online. I won't be buying until winter or early spring but hopefully can fine one if I decide by then.
|
UC nailed it. You can't go wrong with either. I've been looking to handle an apex too, they are in short supply right now. Never been a CVA fan, although the apex has got me rethinking that stance.
|
T/C or CVA? That's no-brainer. The T/C without a doubt. CVA may have improved and they may be better but they ain't even in the same league as a T/C. Spend the extra money and it will be worth it.

hahaha that above is funny!

Can't go wrong with either rifle, But you get the quality you are willing to pay for. I really like my Endeavor.

Are going to get one of these two because you might switch barrels? And I can only speak for myself but, I would not get either one of them, but them again I am not interested in any single shot centerfire barrels. So I would likely go with the Triumph or Omega and to be truthful it would be the Omega... Hey, this might help you make a decision... wow! http://www.modernmuzzleloader.com/ph...ic.php?t=14537 |
I have a Encore BUT i would get the Apex or Omega and take the extra $$$$ and put a nice scope on it . The Cabela's in Lehi Utah had a Apex and it was one of the best looking and feeling guns i have ever shouldered .
|
I never own one but I have been told that the Apex get enough blow back that its a problem, I do own an Omega and I know it does, while my Triumph and my Endeavor do not get any. I do not like blow back and to me that is a quality issue. I can adjust the head space on my endeavor can an Apex do that?
|
Apex's are all over the place in black and SS. Cabelas in Wheeling has three. The camo version is tough to get.
As Sabotloader said i wouldn't buy either for my first ML. The Triumph is alot easier to use then an Omega in my opinion with no blow back. |
never heard of anyone but UC shooting one of the Apex's so far. Head spacing issues are big problem on the tc as you'd find on www.bellmtcs.com along with many other things.
Optima Elite is fixable if they have that issue so i would say that apex is fixable too should that issue occur |
I don't know who told Lee the Apex has blowback problems but they were smoking rope. That breech plug is a marvel - the only debris I had on the action side of the plug after shooting SWISS 3F behind 497 grain conicals was a couple of flakes of primer residue.
Blowback? Nutz! And I will put the Apex up against the Encore any day of the week so far as quality. The Encore will LOSE. Of course that is my opinion after owning only one Apex but several Encores. There is no doubt in my mind which I would choose again. The below pic was taken after several shots with Blackhorn and a few with Swiss 3F - nothing had been wiped down. ![]() I would truly suggest restraining from judgmental comments based upon nothing more than unfounded hearsay. |
"Apex's are all over the place in black and SS"
Grouse, please let potential buyers know where they might find all these Apex rifles. Are the ones in Wheeling muzzleloaders or centerfires? |
If you buy an encore insist that you be able to pull the trigger some are excellent and others need work. Mine was 2 + lbs from the factory.
|
I own an Endeavor and I say go with the Apex. T/C's are way overpriced and the cost is definitely not worth what you get. They can justify this because all the "Professional Hunters" on TV are using them. I love this gun and will admit that the only reason I bought it is because I have a man-crush on Jim Shockey, but if I had it to do over I would have gotten something else. For now I am satisfied with it.
