I bought the u view powder flask from cabelas. Though some of you said there are issues loading with so much powder right at the barrel. My plan is to preload in some tubes then dumb them in the barrel. Is the u view a measure does it despense a set grain of powder. Or do i still need a measure. DId i toss 25 bucks down the drain

Tim, let me put it this way.

Now instead of just needing a way of getting powder from your canisters to your measure. You now need a way of getting your powder from your canisters to your flask and a measure anyway. I'm not going to say you wasted your money. It seems you wanted that flask so use it and enjoy it. Get a good measure. One that is easy to use and measures consistently with minimum effort.

 I guess i went stupied there. Though cabelas has not shipped it maybe there let me cancel and reorder the measure.

You needed the Flask anyway. Its a good one too. But you still need a powder measure and a funnel.

Ya i might go get one at gander mountain tomorrow. That way if the funnel comes after my triumph i can use it for a few days. I got a small funnel might get a powder can spout to.

Tim, don't sweat it. Almost everyone who does muzzleloading has a flask :). I have a flask but I just don't use it anymore. Actually I have two flasks. One I made from wood with a carving of a 8 point whitetail on it.

A 1 lb canister can serve as a means of pouring into your measure with one of those funnel caps I previously mentioned. In that sense they turn your canister into a flask for use at home (pre-measuring vials) or at the range. Of course that wouldn't work well on a hunt if you weren't carrying pre-measured charges and need to measure a charge. That's the circumstance where a flask is handy to have.

I pretty much do what you are planning to do. I pre-measure my charges and put them in the vials prior to going to the field or the range. I use the canisters with an appropriate spout to pour the powder into the measure. But using the flask is pretty much like the oldtimers did it. Its good to experience that so don't fret the flask.

Save some money if you want a funnel... go to a Dollar store and buy a pack of three plastic funnels for $1. The smaller on is just right if you cut it to your liking. :)

And if you lose it, go get some more.
