ffg or fffg
 

I bought some 777 today at gander. I did notthink to ask you guys if i need ffg or fffg. The guy at the desk told me for a long 200 yard plus shots and using the triumph i should get the fffg i guess it is finer. He said he uses it. IS this right is the fffg T7 the right stuff for my shooting.

also he said i should use a 150 grains so the omega bdc is dead on and since i will be doing some long shots. I do not mind using 150 grains but ant 150 grains of 777 going to be over the 150 of pyrodex the scope is rated for. He seem to think it would not make a differnce.

FFFg will be hotter than 2f, and as T7 is already faster than pyrodex, you should definitely experience a difference with your BDC reticle if you were to use 150gr. You can compensate for this easily by dropping powder charge. Should be close at about 130gr 3f T7. You can always test the powder charge you want to use and take note of the ranges that the reticle compensation works out.

That was my thought. I figured i would start at 120 but 130 sounds just as good. I bought 2 pounds and 30 rounds of shockwaves so i plan on doing alot of shooting before hunting. Might shoot the 30 if need be and grap another box for hunting i should have enough powder

3F is better for the smaller cal rifles and pistols but works fine in .50-.54 rifles. The pressures are almost the same in a .50 if you read and trust the load data. I would expect better ignition though due to the smaller grains.

I don't really notice the difference like I do with bp.

I shoot alot more 3f than 2f of t7 but i believe you SHOULD NOT load load more than 110 grains vol. t7-3f as it does create more pressure.........karl
