Bullet choice for LK93

I have a Knight LK-93 with #11 caps and I use Pyrodex RS. I have been using the Knight all lead 310 gr hollow points up until this year. I am now looking for something new. Any must try combos given my cap/powder combo?

I like the 250 grain XTP in the Knight black sabot.

Mine shoots a .430 diameter .44 cal 300 grain XTP in a green Harvester sabot real well with 85 grains of powder. It also shoots the 250 grain Shockwaves with the black sabots real good. Actually there are a lot of things this rifle shoots well.

Thanks, I have been shooting the Knight lead hp with 90 grains of RS for years and it has done well. I would have changed a long time ago but I had a bunch of these bullets from back in the days when VA would only allow lead. Has anyone had any success with the Gold Dots in this rifle?

I have not tried the Gold Dots but I don't know why they wouldn't. In my limited experience it seems like using the proper sabot for your bore is the most important thing.

I have a friend with one of these rifles and all he has ever used were 270 grains Buffalo Bullet Ballets. I told him his rifle could shoot a lot of things really well and he should try other things. His responce was, my son and I use the rifle to shoot two to three deer a year, we have never failed to recover a deer we shot at, with ballets. Kind of hard to argue that.

A buddy of mine has the same model converted to 209's and he only shoots ball and patch.

I bought my son one of the LK's last year with primer ignition and after many frustrating sessions with my T/C I bought me one too this year......Knight is out of business but they still produced the best shooting out of the box muzzleloaders right up until they went out of business.........ours shoots great with 2 Triple Seven pellets (remember that these are primer ignitiion versions) and a 250 or a 290 grain Barnes TMZ or 250 or 300 Expander bullets...............these combo drop deer dead...best killing bullets in the business and they shoot great!

Use either 95gr of RS or 80gr of 777 2fg with your choice of 300gr sabots and you will have an excellent shooting load. The Hornady 300gr XTPs or SSTs give outstanding results, or if you want to go with pure lead bullets - the Precision Rifle 300gr QT bullets (Cabela's Extended Range bullets) will cut the same holes with the above powder loads all day long.....devasting on game too.
