Shooting the 45 cal this season HELP
I have my Encore 50 cal for sale in the classifieds and will shoot the 45 cal CVA Kodiak Pro / SS / Fluted
I wanted to test some 195 grn Powerbelt HP's for FG but they are sold out. The ONLY 45's I found were Precision Rifles QT / 250 grn BT with a cream colored sabot. Anyone have any experiance with this bullet or company.I read great things but I always do. Also some load recomendations would be great,I only have 12 of them. My farthest shot at my set ups is 175 - 180 yards Max,usually much closer but I have seen them come out at the end of the cut I have a single reticle Simmons scope on it. 3x9x50 I was thinking maybe a 75 to 100 yard zero would give me very little hold over for the long ones. Yall let me know what you think. I have BH 209,777,Pyrodex RS & P and goex FFF & pinnacle for powder choices |
Can't help you with that bullet Sax. Never shot them. If I were going to shoot them out of a Kodiak I would probably go with the Pyrodex RS with about 70 or 80 grains.

Saxman,
I've used the PR bullets "Dead Center" brand in my .45. I haven't used the QT's, but I have heard good things about them. I'd suggest starting out with 90 grains of either 777 or BH209 and shooting a 3 shot group, then trying 100 grains and see if you get a better group. Personally, I'd sight it in at 100 yards- most of your shots will be within that range, and if you need to shoot out a little further, just aim 3-4" high at 150, and maybe 6-7" high at 180 (though these are just guesstimates). With only 12 bullets you're kind of limited, but it should be enough to get a rough sight in. |
Hey Bro,
I have the 200g 45/40 SST's and Shockwaves with Cream sabots, Also have 200g 40cal XTP's---All three will shoot MOA, and will do everything you have asked for, by sighting them in at 3inches high at 100 yards, with 90-120g of BH209 :cool2: Can send ASAP! I also need ta send ya some more tubes anyways:s1: |
