Question: Hunting w/ loose powder
 

I have a question about hunting with loose powder. This might be a dumb question, but how do I get it out of my gun after the hunt if I don't take a shot? Do I have to shoot it out, do I have to pull the sabot out? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I am assuming that you are talking about an inline??? - if so remove the breech plug and dump the powder out. In most cases you can push the load completly out the back.

You can shoot it, pull the breech plug and push the load out, or pull the bullet and sabot and dump the powder out. Shooting it means cleaning it. Pulling the bullet and sabot and dumping the powder might not get all the charge out. Taking the breech plug out and pushing the charge through will leave powder stuck to your breech plug grease. So weigh the options.
I always shoot it because then I just swab the barrel and wipe down the worst off the breech plug for the next day. Not like I'm going to salvage what comes out anyways. If it's going to be a few days before the next hunt, then I'll pull the breech plug and clean it as well. And hey, you get to shoot your gun too! :D

i just leave the gun loaded for the next hunt. A finger cot will keep water out of the bore. My muzzleloaders are loaded for months at a time: They always go bang when they are supposed to.

I think your best bet would be to just leave it loaded to but leave the gun outside.If you bring it in from the cold you might have trouble from condensation.Pulling the plug is an ok option but you'll have a fair amount of powder cling to the threads due to the lube.
