How many clicks?

we're going to head out to the NRA just to play around. Im sighted dead on @ 100 yards and 18" low @ 200. How many clicks up should i do in order to get it close on at 200 yards? Bushnell sportsman 3-9x32 with 1/4" @100 yard adjustment. I want to see what kind of groups the Accura-Thor combo will do at long range.

36 clicks up, is my guess:guiness:

Should put you 9 inches High at 100, and dead-on at 200yards ;-)

That is really hard to say.. First off do you want it dead on at 200 yards? Also some scopes can actually be damaged if you adjust them too far. I never had a Bushnell do that but I did a Redfield once (they replaced it and I sold it).

I would instead try to reach 150 yards lets say, and then learn the drop from there. Or go 12 clicks up for three inches. At 100 yards that should be putting you out to somewhere around 140 yards I believe it is. Sabotloader is so much better the me at this stuff. Then you hold the low end of the + on the bull at 200 yards. (something like that.. you people shooting that far with a muzzleloader boggles my old head).

I'd be more inclined to play with the loads a little before trying to adjust a scope that much - the farther you adjust from center. the less reliable they become (too far out and you run the risk of damaging the scope).

If a different load does not help much, then try shimming under the front mount.

If it has a plex reticle, try using the top of the bottom thick post as your aiming point and see what happens. At 9X, that might be about right.

Just be sure to hold the rifle leveled the same each time.

Well we just got back from the NRA. i loaded up, did 30 clicks up. took a shot at 200 yards and perfect! 105gr pyrodex rs, 250gr ballistic tip thor , 1-1/2" group! Rifle did awesome. After that i cleaned the rifle, did 30 clicks down and let my nephew shoot it at 100 yards and he was dead on. He had 2 flyers but his first and last shot were almost touching after 4 shots. He couldnt get comfortable on the sand bags, neither could i. Great day for shooting and the girlies with the tight fitting jeans and tops were all over the place!

MD

Are you saying that you shot a 1 1/2" group @ 200 yards across open terrain?

MountainDevil54 09-26-2009 05:27 PM

NRA is all open terrain with high mounds on the sides of the range to seperate it from the other ranges on the sides of you.

1 1/2" 3 shot group @ 200 yards. We had a tail wind of 10-15mph.

That is some good shooting.. that scope sounds like a good one

MountainDevil54 09-26-2009 07:40 PM

Its good and clear. Best part, it holds center LOL. For $60 im not going to complain.
