While 110 grains of powder is more then enough, I wonder if they are doing that because of some of the new powders on the market. For instance, BlackHorn 209 might be a concern. From the shape of the breech plug it "appears" that it would shoot Blackhorn 209.

Is this one of them rifles that will take centerfire barrels?

That is an excellent write up UC. I think you really broke that down for us. And I respect your opinion, so the rifle is very interesting to say the least. Do you think with that kind of rifling it will shoot conicals well? I can not wait to see what it does on the range for you.

Dave, I'm thinking the gun will shoot conicals well - it certainly should. Yes, it's a switch-barrel rifle that will take both centerfire and rimfire barrels as well as the m/l barrel.

I probably won't try conicals on the first outing. Have some bullets to try that I should have fired long ago - just haven't got around to them.

Thanks!

Got the trigger tweaked down to 2 lb 10 oz, clean and crisp. Put the Sightron SII 3x9 on it in Warne QDs using the provided base. Bore sighted it from the kitchen. Gettin' there.

No, I probably won't go for a .45-70 but might go for a .270 Win and/or a .22 LR barrel later on. Much later on. Not really much point of that since all I ever shoot (when I do shoot) is muzzleloaders... and the occasional pistol.
