Default tajectory

I am shooting a 135 grains of ffg shockey gold powder with a 300 gr mz expander barnes sabot I am 7 inches high at a 100 yds with a grouping of 1.5 ins per 5 shots and at 200 yds the sabot hit 4 inches low with a 2 inch grouping does this 11 inch differance sound normal ?

I think that trajectory is in the ball park of a rifle shooting 100 grains of powder with a 300 grain conical, or 100 grains of powder with a 300 grain saboted bullet.

http://www.traditionsfirearms.com/loadchart.pdf

The main difference seems to be the 7 inch high figure at 100 yards.
The Traditions load #1265 shows -11.3 low at 175 yards loading with 100 grains of powder and +2.7 at 100, both with a 150 yard zero.
I think that the main reason is due to the ffg granulation. The APP ffg is way chunkier than any other powder. Even the APP fffg is only half way between regular ffg & fffg.
I wonder if Goex Pinnacle has a smaller granulation than Shockey's/APP?
Never the less, I only buy the APP fffg granulation.

Something is wrong there. How high is your scope off of the barrel?? Do you have the right bases?? Definitely something wrong. It does not matter how heavy your bullet is. You are talking about a 7 inch vector at 100 yards. Just imagine how high you would be at 125 yards--my guess would be close to 10 inches. You have a problem with your sighting system. Tom.

It is possible that your seeing those results if your velocity is around 1550 to 1600 fps and the gun is zeroed in around 180 yards. In my testing of the APP powder (3F) I found it was considerably slower than the 777 I normally use. In fact it averaged 300 to 400 fps slower for similar volumes of powder. The grouping your getting sounds good but at those velocities I don't think I would shoot much over 200 yards due to retained energy being less than 1000fp by then.I would suggest sighting it in 3" high at 75 yards for a 6" point blank range of a little over 150 yards and about 12" low at 200 yards. You would be dead on at 130 to 135 yards.

Of course this is assuming everything else is working properly on the gun as questioned above. Good luck with it.
