Pyrodex vs Tripple 7 pellets in Genesis.

Have any of you Remington Genesis owners out there tried both Pyrodex and Tripple 7 pellets in your Genesis? If so which did it prefer? Is there a reason to use one over the other in this gun. In the past I used Pyrodex however with this gun I switched to Tripple 7 as that's the gun store had at the time. I ended up checking today and the Pyrodex was $26.99 and the Tripple 7 was $27.99. So it wasn't much of a difference. Both a decent bit cheaper than Wal-Mart. I'm not sure why Wal-Mart seems high on black powder stuff. Most everything else it seems cheaper on. I sighted it in with Tripple 7 although it's shooting a tad low. A few shots I had holes touching at 100 yards and a few I had about a 3" group with so I can't tell if it doesn't like the bullet/powder combo or if it was me shooting it.

I'm shooting a 295 Grain Powerbelt Hollow Point btw.

I tried both Pyrodex RS pellets and Triple Seven pellets. Hands down accuracy wise, my Genesis loves the Pyrodex RS pellets. In fact once the store gets more in stock (after all its not hunting season they tell me) I am going to get some more.

Two pellets and a 250 grain Barnes MZ Expander and my rifle will flat out shoot!!

Well, I bought a extra pack of Tripple 7 but it looks like I may have to get some Pyrodex instead.

Is it close enough between the two that I should still be on paper at 100 yards switching to Pyrodex?

Was it a huge difference in accuracy? Just wondering if I should shoot these up first then switch or just switch now and not use these.

All I can tell you is what my rifle did. At 66 yards (it was winter and that's as far back as I could get) with two pyrodex pellets and barnes expanders it put three shots into the same hole. My rifle has Nikon Omega on it. With the Triple Seven it shot an inch and a half group. Still not bad, but nothing compared to the Pyrodex.

I would suggest try the Triple Seven and see what the rifle will do. I almost shot the Genesis today, but changed my mind at the last minute.

Well, like I said I've tried tripple 7 but never tried pyrodex. With the Tripple 7 at 100 yards the first two shots were touching and to the right of the bullseye. I adjusted the scope to the left and hit low the next 3 shots but they were about a 3" group. I'm not sure if it was me pulling. I'd shot a lot by then or if it was the gun. I guess I need to try Pyrodex.

Can I expect to be on paper still at 100 yards or will I have to completely start over with sighting it in? Thanks.

Yes you will still be on paper. And very close to the same POI.

This was Triple Seven pellets in my Genesis. As I said it was a pretty good group as I remembered.

This was my Genesis with loose powder. I was testing some bullets and different powder charges. I should have kept better track of what I was shooting and other facts. Normally I shoot 200 grain Shockwaves, 200 grain 10mm XTP's, 250 grain Shockwaves, or the 250 grain Barnes Expanders MZ out of the Genesis.

This was that winter day when I got the target out to 63 yards. The best group I ever shot is that lower left corner target. Those three shots were so sweet, I never had the nerve to shoot the fourth.

So did you compare the Tripple 7 pellets at 63 yards or were the T7 pellets at 100 yards and the Pyrodex ones at 66? I think I may go see if the gunshop will exchange the T7 pellets for the Pyrodex ones. Thanks for your help.

BTW you can see what I did with 100 grains of T7 pellets and a 295 Grain Powerbelt hollow point here. That's a 8" target for size reference. I shot the two on the right touching. Then I adjusted the scope to the left and shot those. I'm not sure if it was me or the scope. For some reason I have trouble shooting great groups at 100 yards. I'm not sure what happened.

Anyway, I may try to trade for the Pyrodex ones if they will let me.

I never shot the Triple Seven at 63 yards. The weather warmed up. And I have been watching the local store (local as in 39 miles on way) and they have not stocked Pyrodex pellets yet. Once they do I am getting more of them. Unless I end up ordering some powder soon, then I can have them throw that in with the other hazmat fee items.

Somedays I can punch holes in paper and really impress myself. Other days, I would rather no mention. Yet you stick an old pop can out there and I will roll that around all day.

Looks like I'm luck. I called the gun store and they said they would exchange the Tripple 7 pellets for Pyrodex ones for me as long as I hadn't opened them.
