BH 209 in optima pro???

Read on here in aprevious post that in order to use BH 209 powder you need a certain flash hole or breech plug. If this is true can i use this powder in my Optima pro?

Also has anyone used the FPB hronady bullet's in an Optima? How well does the bullet shoot at 100yds. or beyond? How does it perform on deer?

Good to see some old faces back on here.

BH209 will work fine in your Optima Pro. Im sure the FPB will do good as well. Start with around 70 grains and work your way up until the groups start to open.

I don't know much about an Optima but the FPB has been well tested and used on a number of animals up to the size of an elk, and the FPB is a really good bullet in my Endeavor with 90 gr of BH209 it groups well under an inch @100yd. Lee

I just started using BH in my Optima Elite this year. I have only had one range session with it and only about 12 rounds. Shot well. Extremely good accuracy. I would probably do what others are doing and drill out the fire channel about every 10-12 rounds or so. I know after calling CVA that my breech plug has a flash hole diameter of only .027". I assume yours is the same. No hang fires that first session. As long as it performs in cold weather i'm extremely happy with BH. I was using regular WIN209 primers as they seal up good in my gun.
