Default 09/05/09 Range day w/ Omega

Went to tha range today to test some new bullets along with my regular hunting load (300 gr S/W Super Glide). I shot the following bullets at 50 yards: 350 gr Hornady FPB, 300 gr Knight Red Hots, 240 XTP, and the 300 gr S/Ws. I only shot teh Red Hots and FPBs at 100 yards. The 50 yard shots were taken while sitting ZIndian style on the ground with a tri pod and the 100 yard shots were laying down using my dry box as a rest.

The two small targets are at 50 yards with the Red Hots on the right and the FPBs on left. The big targets with the black center are at 100 yards and in the saem position. The Red Hots were very accurate. The single target was 300 S/Ws with 2 Pyrodex pellets. Everything else was with 90 grains RS.

Heck Cherokee, it looks like those FPBs are doing real well also.

Semisane,
The FPBs were a suprise. I am not sure why they were all a little left. They wind was at my back. I figured since they kicked harder than the other loads, maybe I was flinching and pulling left. Anyway, they would have killed the deer.

Here is my target from 50 yards with 300 S/Ws and 90 grains RS. They were my 3rd,4th ,5th shots after my first three 300 S/Ws with 2 Pyrodex Pellets ( target posted at start of thread). There were maybe ten minutes in between groups but it was the same for all my other groups but these seemed to be the biggest variation. I wonder if it is becaus the Super Glide sabots are softer and were affected more by the heat. Anybody have a suggestion?

Minute-Of-A-Deer is all we need anyway

The Super Glide sabots I believe are thinner, the SW is normally one of the most accurate bullets but you may have to try some different sabots.
I would recommend trying the Short Black Harvester, a lot of people have excellent results with them if it still don't shoot well try the MMP 12. You may also have to try a bit more powder. Lee

Default Question

My shots at 50 yards are hitting about the same elevation as 100 yards with 90 grains RS. There was a slight wind to my back but 3" high at 50 shouldn't be 3" high or slightly more at 100. Do you suppose it could be the angle from which I shot? At 50 I was seated using tripod shooting straight on at the target. At 100, I was laying on the ground using my dry box as a rest and looking slightly up at the target. Probably just the way I saw the target through the scope, right?
