BP Hole blocked by Teflon Tape
What do you guys think? Ive been experimenting with covering the entire face of my BP with teflon tape, Along with the threads. Do you think it would help to keep moisture out of the Powder?
No hangfires at all with RS and covering the hole over with tape. |

Funny you should ask about this... With a Knight DISC Elite/Extreme with the FPJ - it is a non-issue. |
On my TC breech plugs they have a deep bell or pocket and the tape could stop the powder from going into that pocket or rip . I guess if the first shot goes the same place the next shot at the range then it would not matter and could work . I would think a o-ring or two around the 209 primer would do the trick .

Utah, That may be true. I wrapped it tight so maybe it will tear when i load up. Good point! Oh well, i was just wondering if it would slow down the air getting to the powder. The projectile is still a big weak point as it doesnt seal up the rifling.

I think I might be doing mine a little different than most. I use two guns that have speed breaches when I experimented with using Teflon tape with a speed breach I leaned that the best way for me to get the best results was to start up on the shoulder be hind the rings and wrap on layer edge to edge back to the end on the threads, then I put a very light spray of synthetic oil on it I can put it in and out with finger and it works just fine. This would be you best bet , looks like they also come with a rubber seal to put around the 209 primer .

No hangfires at all with RS and covering the hole over with tape. Not a big problem for most powder subs, BUT if you are using BH209, it can and DOES cause mis/hang fires. For BH user's with .035 or smaller flash holes, I reccomend only tapeing the plug a couple threds down from the face, so there will be no chance of getting tape blow-back in the flash hole:):s4: |
I never have much trouble with moisture getting into the powder, with a finger cot over the barrel and take a bees wax candle and put melted wax on the area where a closed breach rifle like a Triumph or a Encore mates when the breach is closed and its moisture resistant. I shot the biggest buck I ever got in a down pour. Lee
