I been reading some other posts on the 250g charge talking how it's not accurate and sight the gun in and not the scope! Im kinda leaning towards that too! The first four shots I am very happy with at 100 yds the last two very dissappointed in. My question is why did my first four shots shoot so good and then the last too suck?? I was swabbing in between shots. Could it be dirty gun/breech?(bench rest shots)

CVA ACCURA Barnes T-EZ 250g 150g tripple seven pellets/preimer......Nikon omega BDC Scope

Cause a 150 gr charge behind a 250gr Barnes kicks like a mule, causing the operator to flinch...:s2:

More than likely it is because of barrel temperature.

150 grains of pellet power is nothing close to a 150 grains of loose T7... I shoot 110/120 grains of loose T7 in my inlines - but you do have to allow the barrel to cool between shots - especially if you are shooting in warm weather.

just a thought

I agree, Barrel temp is to hot and throwing your shots. Give each shot about 5 minutes to cool down before loading up again. My traditions evolution threw a fit yesterday when the barrel heated up. So did i as the rifle was to hot to touch!

Check out the thor conicals for that Accura, my Accura seems like they were made for them!

Another possibility is where you place your front rest... put it in the same place everytime. And preferably not near the end of the forearm, I try to get the front rest real close to being under the rear site.

Ill post my pics tomorrow thanks for the advice

My personal suggestion would be to use loose powder. With pellets you're kind of stuck with whatever accuracy they give and there's really little room for tweaking. You can either use 3 pellets or 2. Or buy some of the lower grain pellets and try that. But with loose, you can start at a certain point and increase the charge by 5 grains to find your optimum load. It will take some time shooting 3 round groups and letting the barrel cool consistently but it will get you to the best accuracy possible for that specific bullet.

There ya go! Dont bother with those magnum charges. You still need to try some Thors out in the Accura though! Its a Barnes bullet too.

Not till 2010 or 2011. They are finding that the .45s on the market have bores that vary greatly in diameter.

That's all you need...

I shoot the 250 Shockwaves with 90grs Geox FFF and my buddy uses 90grs Triple 7...Sight in 2 1/2 high at 100 and you will be about 2 1/2 - 3 inches low at 150...That's plenty far for a muzzleloader...

UtahRob 09-04-2009 05:20 PM

I had the best groups with

1 . Traditions Pursuit pro 28'' barrel - 100 grains of Pyrodex

2 , Encore 26'' barrel- 90 grains pf Pyrodex

3 . Encore 26 ''barrel 90 grains - BH209

4. Encore 26'' barrel - 85 grains of 777

But i use a 300 grain xtp. . The last time i shot my encore 26 '' barrel and used 100 grains of Pyrodex i could see black powder on the snow 3-10 feet in front of me , so i lowered the charge and then there was very little . I wounder how much powder goes out the barrel un burned with Mag Loads . ????
