Final Sight in-----Hopefully II
Guys, one think I forgot to mention or ask was the scopes power. Again, I have a 3-9x40 Nikon Omega (Nikoplex reticle) on my TC Triumph with Talley mounts. I have been using 9 power on all my shots thinking that would be the most accurate no matter what power I was on. I'm a little confused on the first focal plane/ second focal plane and how all that relates to the power and reticle relations and what you suppose to do. Help---I go to the range today. I may even take my work laptop that has a verizon card so I can "chat" with you guys incase I have a problem--DrAsus

I was just wondering what load you are going to be using? Also, what is the shot distances you will be expecting? I am sure others on here can over more insightful advice / knowledge about the focal planes.
Personally, I hunt with the scope on the lowest power then crank it up if needed. I have sighted in the scope on high power and low power. Never noticed a difference in POI. My shots are under 150 yards though. Keep us informed. |

You have an excellent scope it will do the job, many of us sight in on high power and hunt with low power. I have two Nikon Omega's one the Triumph and one one the Endeavor the only difference between high and low power is that high power works best for bench shooting and low works best for hunting. Personally I do not worry about the technical details of a scope unless it don't work right. Lee |
I'll be shooting a TC SW 250gr in Harvester Short Black Sabot with either 100gr (2x50) 777 pellets or 130gr (2x50+30) 777 pellets. I just went and got a pack of the 30 gr 777 pellets. I think it was Sabotloader who advised that the best accuracy comes from about 110-120 gr of loose and that 130gr of 777 pellets equals about 110 gr loose. I like the ease of the pellets and want to use them THIS year and look into loose possibly for NEXT year. Any more advice? I think I'll continue using the 9x power for sight in---DrAsus :barmy:
