rust On Black Diamond
 

Hey guys I recently was givem a .45 Black Diamond, the only draw back is that it is covered with rust. I am attempting to save it for my son can use it, if it doesn't cost that much. Do any of you know round bouts how much it would cost to get it reblued or if the place camo-solutions.com process would eliminate the rust. I was reading about their process and they stated that they sand the firearms down before dipping them? Any info would be great thanks

PM Grouse45, he has a local G smith that applies a procedure at a very reasonable price.

Just clean the rust up paint it.

If it's got that much rust on the outside odds are the bore aint looking to good either.Rust will harm the rifling so accuracy will drop off some.You might be better off just replacing the barrel or having it bored to .50 cal.If by some miracle the previous owner did maintain the bore a re-blue is fine.

I'd clean and scrub the bore, then see if it shoots acceptably. If not, you don't need to worry about the rust.
