scope problems, need help
 

I have an Encore with muzzleloader barrel. Had a Simmons scope on it for 10 years with no problems, untill a plastic ring under a turrent split and came off. I decided to take the scope off of my 7mm and put it on the Encore. This is a Bushnell 3200 Elite. A very nice scope that has been problem free for two years. Sighted in easy and shoots good groups on the Tikka.
On the Encore, however, I have problems! The rifle is now shooting VERY low. Adjusting elevation maximum high, I am still hitting about a foot low at 100 yards.
The Encore has a one piece base and Weaver style mounts. I'm shooting 200 grain Precision bullets with a 100 grain load of Blackhorn 209.
Something just isn't right. Please help!! Thanks, Jim

What is the distance between your scope bell an the barrel?

I had the same problem with my encore when I put a 3200 scope on. Seems they don't have as much adjustment as some scopes.

I ended up shimming the rear of the scope base with some aluminum shim stock. Or you can cut some from aluminum cans.

Some people don't like the idea of shimming but it seems to be a problem with TC. Encore, Omega barrels.

Or you can go to Burris signature rings or a scope base with built in MOA.

There were a couple posts on this subject a while back if I can find one I will bring it up.

The first thing I might suggest is to switch rings - swap the front to the back and the back to the front if you can... Believe it or not not all rings have equal heighth.

Shimming is an option and it will work.

I have several 3200's mounted on different guns and have not ran out of adjustment on any of them, including the ones on my Omega.

Another avenue is to contact Bushnell and ket them know the problem - they might just fix it real easy for you.

You will always get the best results when the center lines of the scope and the barrel are parallel it reduces parallaxe.Always check to make sure no dirt or other objects are between any mating surfaces. Some of us actually bar hone our rings after they are mounted to make sure the scope tube is exactly lined up and no side stress is on the scope. Lee
