Speer .429 210 Grain Gold Dot
Has anyone tried these with a 50/44 sabot? Speer lists them as handgun hunting bullets.

I bought a box of them, as I liked the ooks of them.. reminded me of a goot-ole 30-30 flat nose bullet... I have not shot any of them - do not even know where they are right now... but, I had read a few reports on them and the results were not always that encouraging so I stayed with the .452/250's I think Lee has shot them - but no sure... |
No, I have looked at the but not bought any the ideal length for a .430 bullet is .97 assuming that we would want to shoot it at 1800 to 2000 FPS. I thought it was so short that it would over stabilize. It might be a good choice to try with a sabot in a 1-48 twist. Lee

Well I'm glad to hear the luke-warm comments that will probably cool my interest and save me some pennies. I guess I was looking at them out of boredom since I'm a heavy bullet fan anyway. I'll just stick to my 300 grain GDs, which have never failed me.

Semisane,
I bought a box of 100 to load for my Redhawk but they did not shoot too well with the load I tried. So not to let them go to waste, I bought the green crush ribbed sabots and tried them in my Omega behind 90 grains RS. They accuracy was pretty good but I have never used them on game. |
