Thor Bullets
 

After shooting the Thors the couple times that i did, i'd like a good flat shooting 200 yard bullet. AKA - 200 grains! What do you guys think?

Do you mean in .45 cal??? A 200 grain .50 caliber conical would be awful short - almost like shooting a roundball.

For you or even Colorado the Thor could be a great bullet even the FPB would be very acceptable. I believe, and not trying to be malicious, either of these two would operate better over a wider range of possibilities than any PowerBelt.

So, back to the original poll thought - a 200 Thor might really be nice - but it would probably be to long to shoot from a 1/28 twist with consistent accuracy. Might work well in a 1/24 White or if you could find one of the orginal 1/20 45 cal Knight DISC's... they might be great...

to long? The 250 and 300gn thors work best with a 1:16 to 1:34 twist. The 200gr .50cal thor would be shorter than either.

Did not know you were considering a 50 cal 200 grain - but I guess I should have... thinking sabot to much. I wonder what the length might be? It could be just right?

im not sure what the length would be. i have 2 spare bullets right now. One i am about to cut in half. The other im going to try to cut down to 200 grains and see what that would look like.

The shorter bullet would be excellent as it would allow the shooter with the slow twist rifle to now shoot the thor. It would just be nice to have the pure copper and a 200gr bullet for out here.

The ideal length for a 50 caliber bullet to be shot at 2000FPS in a 1-28 twist is 1.2 inches. Now we all know that it is easy to under stabilize a bullet so it wont shoot strait but that you can get away with some over stabilization.the Thor 250 gr at least I think what they sent was the 250 gr is a bit under an inch. The more you shorten the bullet the slower you have to shoot it. Every thing considered if I was going to try to make the 250 lighter I would try to do it with out losing much length. Lee

Asking for a 200gr Thor isnt going to take a whole lot of material off thats for sure. This was 250 grains, after i cut in downt he middle. It now weighs 228 grains.

Are you thinking about enlarging the hollow point a bit?

No the HP's are good as they are. Smaller than the barnes expanders and i like that. It will be fun to shoot them thats for sure. New toys are always fun.
