New project in the works.

Remember awhile back when Knight announced the BH209 plug on the Ultimate Slam would not interchange on the Extreme and Elite models? I do really well and it was frustrating.

It's no secret that i really like Knight Rifles. After speaking with Dave, we were talking about designing a plug that would achieve 100% BH209 ignition with very little blow back if any.

Now the time has come to start planning a test plug i should say. I figured it would be nice to hear some of your opinions or idea's on what you would like to see.

I do want to mention Dave is very qualified to do this. He has made the speed breech plugs for the T/C triumph for T/C. I believe another company out bid the job and he did not get the contract. So he is very qualified to make these plugs safe and effective for our Knight muzzleloaders.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I'm hoping to be testing a plug sometime in June.;)

Would they fit a LK-II and a LK-93? Basically a Wolverine that shoots #11 caps.

I would certainly like to voice a positive + for myself. I would love to have a cleaner breech plug in the Extreme.

If Lehigh Dave can design one at a reasonable price - I would be very receptive.

So I vote get er done...

Grouse45: Count me in !;) I don't care if it's a bare primeror using the red disc. As long as it gives reliable igntion with BH209 and very little primer fowling.

I don't think so cayugad. We might just be able to make that conversion as well.

I tested the flame channel this past weekend. Things are looking very positive. This will sure make shooting these Muzzleloaders alot more desirable with out all the mess.

The blow back is always a problem, not only for cleaning but it sometimes scares some of the people just getting interested in the sport. Lee

Thanks Grouse. I'm very interested in this !

I didn't hunt with BH209 in my Knight last year, when I heard of the ignition problems in cold weather.

I actually just got done testing the ignition system this past weekend. That test was excellant and the new design his being drawn right now. I'm hoping to have an actual Prototype to test by themiddle of July. I will have atleast one other person testing that as well and hopefully if things go well they will be being sold sometime in August.

New Knight Breech Plug

Great Idea Grouse 45. when do you see this becoming a reality to the common shooter.

I'm really hoping sometime in August.

txhunter58 07-19-2009 04:01 PM

Here is another vote for one that fits the KRB7.

Also, I just purchased a Knight LRH and BH seems to work OK with that breech, but it does have quite a bit of blowback. The 209's are convex where the firing pin hits them! That is using the FPJ system since it has the concave breechplug.

bralaw 08-23-2009 09:08 PM

I am interested, but will I still be able to use my FPJ? Also any chance for a wolverine/bighorn 209 FPJ plug?

klundin2000 08-24-2009 03:41 AM

I would like one. When can we start ordering?? Thanks

Grouse45 08-24-2009 07:26 AM

I was told they will be on a machine this week. Hopefully the test one's will be mailed and to me this weekend.

Reese260 10-27-2009 09:29 AM

Wondering what the status is.

earnhard3 10-27-2009 05:18 PM

If I could use the full plastic breech plug I will buy one.

I am definitely interested in one for a .50 Knight Elite.....

Thanks!

rafsob 12-20-2009 10:22 AM

it has been quite a few months, any updates???

Why can't they come up with a new plug like the one they put in the Knight Vision? It has virtually no blow back.

sabotloader 12-20-2009 10:59 AM

All

Grouse is hunting in Ohio - so I will add what i know.... the testing is all done and it all seems to work. The problem is running the product arranging for packaging...

When Grouse gets back he can explain more....

Thanks Sabotloader, I was just wondering what was going on after that time period.

deer655 12-20-2009 01:04 PM

any chance of one being made for a mk85?

buccaneer 12-21-2009 11:14 AM

I'll chime in for the KRB breech plug.

Grouse45 12-21-2009 02:54 PM

The testing for the plug is complete. 20 plugs are made ready to sale. The primer holders need completed and packaging has been ordered i think. Dave at Lehigh had a best friend who passed away. Very hard and sad times for him. I'm sure he'll bounce back very soon.
