Bird Feeder
 

I love my wife, bless her heart, but she just doesnt know me as much as I thought after 11 years of marrage. :eek:Idislike birds.Always have since a Macaw ripped off my finger nail when I was young. A few I will tolerate like Robins and the little black headed ....Chicadees? Anyhow, its theloud, obnoxious, squaking birds that give away your hunting post or wake you up in the morning that I have a problem with. Last year we had a Robin nest in a tree in our front yard and a Steller Jay came and ate all the baby chics and that made my butt itch! I have a Jack Russell Terror, yes Terror,that I have taught to chase all the #$#@^^$% birds out of my yard and the darn pesky squirrls too. The birds eat my grass seed, ate the baby Robin chicsand they poop all over the place and the squirrls dig up my Tulip Bulbs and drop pine cones on my Jeep and so on. I have a pellet gun and shoot it almost every day just to shoot (I know, I know but shooting is shooting). I shoot at still targets like plastic bottles and tin cans and stuff. Well, I came home from work today andmywifehas mounted a bird feeder about 40 feet from the front doorof my man cave. Big ole tree behind it as a back stop. :DSo, do I use the birds and squirrles asmy new targets or do I just shoot the bird feeder?

Sounds like a domestic crisis in the making. :D:D I suggest you learn to love the birdies. It's easy if you take the right approach. For example, I love Robin jambalaya.

To be honest, my JRT does a fine job at scaring away the birds and squirrles. He almost got a Steller Jay once. I have relocated the bird feeder so im not tempted to eradicate the flying pests. Now, the poopwont benext to our BBQ and patio furniture. No more children for me. Im too old and too selfish nowadays. As far as practicing goes, I dont think it can get any less frequent than it already is. I wonder if I could get the wife to (hold the bird feeder in the old location) ;).

Well sometimes you have to just let the wife have their way. I would ignore the bird feeders. While they are nice targets, they are do a very good thing for you yard. Their droppings, in the right places cause no problems. They eat spiders, bugs, wood ticks, mosquito, and they sing and add life to your yard and gardens. One of my favorite bird is humming birds. I personally cannot have bird feeders in my yard as it draws in bears. The humming bird feeders have to be brought in every night, but its worth it.

Hey, it's called BAIT, she did you a favor! ;)

I used to live on a suburban 2-acre lot and had a bird feeder up to entertain my springer spaniel. Darn squirrels got into it all the time. Turns out with proper shot placement, a pellet gun can take down a squirrel at a good 20 yards, it was good practice and the only shooting I got to do easily.

One Saturday afternoon the wife and daughters were out shopping and there were 4 squirrels on our feeder...It was getting about time for dinner so I shot 2 with the pellet gun, parboiled and fried them up...They came home and I was finishing up my squirrels, baked beans, corn and a salad...:D

That was the whole purpose of the post. I enjoyed everybodies comments. Some of them were laugh out loud funny. I dont want to litter the area with dead birds and squirrels. Odds are I never will but if they catch me in the wrong mood, (no range day for more than a week) they could find themselves with a nice welt. I have a 10 pump crossman and I could only pump it 7 or so times and take a little off it just to prove a point. I hope you all enjoyed the post. :D
