RE: what scope ?
I have four guns outfitted with Nikon ProStaff scopes. Two use 2-7x32mm and the other two use 3-9x40mm. No complaints and they have held up nicely to everything I have thrown at them.

RE: what scope ?
I currently have a Sightron SI 3x9x40 on the muzzleloader I hunt with and it is a very good scope for just over $100, but if I had to do it again, I would go with the Sightron SII, 3x9x42 that I have on my 17HMR. The SII scopes have even better light gathering capability. The SII series is an excellent scope for a rifle that needs a lot of adjustment with their patented "Exactrack." I've been very pleased with both.

RE: what scope ?
Don't leave the Nikon Buckmaster off that list.
Agreed on Bushnell, the 3200 is a good scope but about all that is good in their lineup. Leupold is good but not what it used to be, I lean towards Nikon. That being said my scoped ML currently has a Barska on it as that was the only tactical scope I could find in my limited price range at the time. When that scope craps out I'll replace it with something twice the price, now that the Bushnell 3200 Tactical is out. I spend more time hunting with my ML than anything else but somehow still can't get myself to put a $800-$1000 scope on a ML... |
