Shelf Life?

I was thinking about ordering a case of loose powderRS Select,777) and just put it up.
How long will it last if factory sealed and stored in a cool dry area?

I have had powder in that condition around the house for up to eight years and it seemed to suffer no ill effects. I normally have powder around for two years with no effect to it. As long as it is sealed and stored in a cool dry place.

Thanks Dave,
With the price it seems i would be better ordering alot and paying the hazard fee.
Only thing is im the only one in our club thats into loose so it might be around for a few years.

Even if you order a half case it is still a bargin. The prices they are charging around my place for loose powder is insane. I order a lot of my powder from Graf's & Sons.

I agree. Shelf life is not a problem. Buy in bulk when you can.

Just make sure it stays sealed and is in a dry & cool place. When I open the can, I put a few of those silica gel packets in it (they come in the boxes of a lot of consumer products) to absorb moisture. Once opened, as long as I'm careful, I've been shooting an opened can for up to 2 years with no problems.

With Black,Pyrodex. and Blackhorn 209 you can store them a long time. Wit APP and 777 I have had them get just erratic enough to drop shots low out of the group, they attract moisture and if the can has been opened they don't seem to seal as well. I live in a extremely humid area [the down wind end of a 40 thousand acre lake] and so I have a bit more to contend with than most. Lee

Old Smell Hound & jaybez, I am so sorry it takes you 2 years to go through a pound of powder. I have had my ML since December "08"and I have gone through a container of T7 Pellets, one 10oz can of BH209, a pound of T7 FFFg and am half way through a pound of T7 FFg and Idont even belong to a club....yet. Just poken a little fun at ya. I store my opened container ofBP or like in a Zip Lock bag, withcilica gelpacks in the container itself, in a cool dry place. Once I open it, its gone with in a few weeks. Brand new, unopened, Ziplock and a cool dry place.

My brother and I bought a hundred pound keg of H 4831 gov surplus in the early sixties. For fifty cents a pound. It is world war two surplus, so I would guess it was made in the forties. I still have about three pounds left. It still has the same burning rate and works great.
