The Dutch Schoultz System

Have any of you guys gotten the Dutch Schoultz Black Powder Rifle Accuracy System? If so, is it worth the $15?

Come on Semi - more details? I guess I am going to have to do my own search. Here is what I found.

I have wondered the same thing Semi. For 15 bucks how can you go wrong. Why don't you get it and tell us all what you think.:):):)

I might just do that Flounder. It's less than a box of Gold Dots, and all of the suppliers seem to be out of GDs right now anyway. Several posts on muzzleloadingforum.com call it "the best $15 you'll ever spend".

Sorry Bronko, I should have supplied the link. Did you click on the "Tips"section at the top of that page and read the seven tips helisted? I was particularly interested in what he had to say about "Lead Balls, Relative Weights and Flyers".

Thanks for the offer Flounder. I think I'll just keep it simple - order it and let you guys know what I think.

Sounds great Semi, I can't wait to hear how it works out for you. Do you think this guy is serious about expecting you to weigh your balls?

Semisane 04-21-2009 11:49 AM

RE: The Dutch Schoultz System

Yeah, I think he's serious. But he doesn't say whether to weigh them together or separately. :D

They always make you buy into the program to find out all the details. But if it will help a guys shooting I'm sure it will be worth it.

Pm me your address and I can send you my copy. I don't need it any more. It is a small collection of articles on working up a load, dry patching, target analysis, making your own short starter, etc, stuff like that.

Will do Chet. Appreciate it. I'll send it back to you, or pass it on to others, whatever you want.

I don't know much about that but I weighed a box of Hornady .490 balls last night. There were only 95 in a new box of 100. They ranged from 177.3 to 178.5 gr. I divided them into 2 groups. I ended up with 42 that were between 177.3 and 177.9 and 53 that were between 178 and 178.5. He thinks you should keep them within 1/2 gr of each other.. For hunting it doesn't really matter. For target or Rondy shooting it can make a difference. The biggest thing I found out from the info was how much difference there is in measuring patches. Some compress a lot more than others. Mic-ing them regular and compressed can make a big difference in accuracy. Oh well that's enough. You can wait to get the mail to find out the rest:D

RE: The Dutch Schoultz System

Chetmarks was kind enough to send me his copy of the Schoultz system. It's a total of 28 pages (8.5 x 11") of material directed at achieving round ball accuracy. Much of it will be "I knew that" kind of stuff for experienced round ball shooters - working up a load, loading consistency, wiping between shots, patch thickness, etc. - but the emphasis he places on patchlubrication and weighing balls was pretty interesting. I would think the package would be pretty usefulto anyone just getting in to shooting patched balls.

I asked Chet if he wanted it back or whether I should pass it along to others, and he said to pass it along.

So, who's next?? If you want to read it PM your mailing address to me. If I get more than one reply I will send it to the first one and includethe addresses of the others so it can beforwarded alongto each onein turn.
