The sickness has set in
As the title says-sickness has set in-for the last 5 or 6 years all that I needed was one muzzleloader and it
was a knight wolverine-heck I finally killed my first deer with it last Dec. Then one day I happened upon this sight and also modern muzzleloader and started reading a whole lot. While reading one day someone posted about Cabelas having a sale on the Remington Genesis and guess what, I now have two muzzleloaders-a grey laminate thumbhole stock ss barrel with a nikon prostaff 3x9 50mm scope on it. Do some more reading and someone posts about sportsmen guide having the Knight camo gun on sale and now I have one of those. I think that I need help. All kidding aside it is a very addicting sport. As for shooting the guns, the wolverine shoots pretty good, but last Friday I was shooting the Genesis and it came into its own shooting the .452 300 grain XTP behind 110 volume grains of 209 along with a black harvester sabot-a little tough to get down the barrel but the accuracy was unbelievable-if I figure out how to post a pic I will share it.I have not had a chance to shoot the new Knight yet. |

RE: The sickness has set in
You poor lost soul Ezbagr. Some lucky few stumble upon this site and look away soon enough to be saved. You looked too long. So, what's on your list for your next gun? :D
You MUST learn how to post target pictures. We expect them, you know. :) |
RE: The sickness has set in
Those Genesis are good shooters. I actually shot a .471 group (three shots) at 50 yards with mine. When you consider a bullet is .452 that is not a lot of room to spare. Something that the Genesis really surprised me with was how well it liked Pyrodex RS pellets. I normally am not a pellet shooter, but that Genesis was amazing with them.
My Wolverine is also a very good shooter but it likes 80 grains of powder to do its thing. And it does it very well. I did not give in an buy a Knight Vision. I'm so proud of myself. Although I got two others and a barrel, so I guess that does not really count. This is a sickness. These things are just too much fun. I think it brings out my inner child, when I can make loud noises, create lots of smoke, and knock things over and not one gets mad about it. |

first, you buy your first rifle than you get your second
other symptoms, (may be deffer from person to person) wanting different calibers different styles rebuilding rifles building rifles from parts (where I am at now) selling off older rifles to buy new ones. there are a few more, I can't remembers ;) |

RE: The sickness has set in
My poor lonley .257 Roberts barrel. It rarely gets to mate with the Pro Hunter frame any more. Just sits in the gun cabinet and gathers dust...along with the other center fire rifles. [&o]
Maybe I could sell a couple, add the $ to the $120 I have saved for a flinter and get one much sooner??? |
RE: The sickness has set in
I have been at this about 4 or so years now and every year I get hooked and hooked more....and each deer season I get more excited for muzzleloader season then regular rifle season...so, I guess I am sick too. =)
