First Impressions of a Knight Vision!

Well I got my Knight Vision from Sportsman Guide and vey happy with it with only one exception. For some reason Knight made the butt stock too long. I consider myself about average when it comes to length of pull, but this Vision is way too long. Add to that the scope base comes in two pieces only and this makes it more difficult to place the scope in a good position. Most scopes have a 3.5" eye relief. This makes it almost impossible for me to get a proper field of view through the scope. I have tried to mount different scopes on hand and it is not working.

So what I am doing is using a Weaver Quad Four offset rings and I ordered a Leupold Ultimate Slam scope that has a 4.7" eye relief. This should work and I wouldn't have to cut down thestock, which is a little difficult to do on a composite stock. Difficult, but not impossible.

Aside from this one problem, I really like theVision. I will take the set up out to the range next week, Wed.

Has anyone else had this problem and it so what did you do to take care of it???

Great first report, and pointing out some of the problems. How is the rifle for shooting open sights with that long stock?

I will be waiting for your first range report. I read on another post that a person owning one had some excellent groups at 100 yards with the rifle. He was shooting Barnes TMZ but I forget the rest of the details..

The specs say 14.5" L.O.P; Wonder why so long.

I see Sportmans Guide has the all-camo in stock again for $199.

Hey Dave,
I haveyet to shoot it, but will put it through it's paces next week. I have no problem with takingaim with the opensights as is. My problem is with the eye relief on my scopes. I am very hopeful that the Weaver Quad offset rings and the Leupold Ultimate Slam will take care of my problems.

Fit andfinish on the Vision is very nice. I cansee many wonderful years of shooting pleasure with this gun. I will post a full range report next week.

On Friday I will be shooting my Invstarms Hawkens .50 cal. PRB. Hopefully I will have a good range report on that gun. I have both .490 & .495 dia. balls and various patches to try. I will be using Goex 2FF powder.

Good luck with the new "tool". Let us know how it shoots (hopefully with some pics). ;)

Hey rt,
That is the one I bought. I paid $179.99 for mine. I am a member. And as to the 14.5" LOP, It must have been before they put on the recoil pad. But it is far from that measurement. But I think we Americans are good at fixes and workarounds!!! ;)

I love mine. Did yours come with the new breech plug? No red plastic jackets needed.

14.5 is perfect for me. Im 6'3" so i like the longer length of pull.

Hey Grouse45,
Yes. Both mine and my buddies came in with the new breech plug.

And as to the 14.5" LOP, mine isn't even close to that figure. It is more closer to 16". I am 6' and consider myLOP to be average, which is 14.5". I don't get it. But like I said earlier, I bought a set of Weaver Quad Four offset rings. These along with the Leupold Ultimate Slam, which has a 4.7" eye relief, should help take up the space and make it more comfortable to shoot. I ordered thescope from Cabalas. I could not find this newscope at any of the other optic stores. I like dealing with SWFA and Optics Planet, but they didn'tcarry the new scope.

Thescope is selling for $269.99 with free shipping. This scope is designed like the Nikon Omega, but it can be customized to any load you sellect and not one the company says to use.

rafsob,
I put the same scope on my Vision. I think you will be happy with the ML. Maybe you can get the stock cut and put a recoil pad on it if you have a problem.
