10 mil 200 grain Comparison
Call me late - as I usually are... but I got some 10mm/200 grain SST/SW's in the mail this weekend and I was kinda inspecting the new bullets as I normally do not shoot pointy bullets at all.
Well, I really expected the SST/SW to be a 200 grain XTP with the tip inserted in the hollow point. As you can see fron the picture comparison they are from different molds... The SST/SW is a longer bullet with a smoother taper to the tip. Anyway as I said this was all new to me.... |
RE: 10 mil 200 grain Comparison
That's surprising to me too- I've shot both, but never bothered to put them side-by-side to compare them. I figured as well that the 200 SST/SW was basically the XTP with a plastic tip. I'm kinda surprised that the SW is that much longer than the XTP. You'd expect that the BC for the SW would be a lot more than for the XTP, but if my memory serves me correct, I don't think they are that different from one another. I know the BC for the XTP is listed at .199, but I can't remember what the SW is....

I was hoping to see them in their final mushroomed state. I wonder which is the 'tougher' bullet and will hold together better.

ORIGINAL: bronko22000 I was hoping to see them in their final mushroomed state. I wonder which is the 'tougher' bullet and will hold together better. I have never shot the 200 XTP but the 240 does hold together better than a SW....but causes less damage. In my experience. It just doesn't open as far, the petals peel back all the way and you get an opened bullet not a ton wider than it was when you shot it. |
