54 cal hawkens build update
 

I was sanding my stock with 0000 steel wool and noticed a few spots on the stock that the finish was chipped to the wood. so I decided to go on and refinish the whole stock because it was the only way to fix that.

there was a thick layer of wax on the stock. so thick the stripper could not even get the finish. took 3 coats of stripper to get the stock to 90% ready for the sanding process. there is still wax on the stock. so I am going to try to sand the rest of the finish off. I have not made up my mind how I am going to finish this stock.

also, I won all the screws I need as well as a few other parts I will need for 10.95 shipped off ebay.

trigger guard

Those parts are usually $10each on ebay. It wont be long before you have a .54 to shoot. If you ever get to shoot again :D

Hell I will finally be shooting that .58 once my ball mold comes in. Hopefully tomorrow or friday.

this problem, I can figure out. and have time. maybe sometime before I get the rest of the parts. the lock is going to be my problem child. mainly, they go fast on ebay and claim fast. may end up ordering that part from one of 4 places. or just emailing around making offers to those seller on ebay.

stock is sanded and ready for some type of finish. testing some stuff I have on the butt plate area. I'll see if it takes 100% tomorrow.

corey - try wiping the stock down with acetone to help remove the wax. I remember doing this while repairing a surfboard for someone back in high school. BTW . . . if you do this, make sure the area is well ventilated

all wax is off. bare stock
