Its more likely than not a fashion statement like some folks on here have said. However I do own one camo shotgun that I use for turkey and goose hunting. I dont think a gun can go thru more abuse than when your goose hunting. Crawling around thru rice fields, your gun is in mud and water all the time. I have used this shotgun for the last 6 years hunting geese and none of the camo has peeled off. This one is durable for sure. I still like a fine walnut stock with satin finish on a blued barrel for me thats a classic. I reckon its just whatever suits your fancy.

I have just one camo gun and I did'nt really buy it because of that but knight's vision with black receiver was imo ugly as hell and the camo sure helps in the looks dept.it also helps that its a great shooter....karl

Im a fan of the old blue barrel and wood stocks, mostly cause I know how to take care of them, camo is cool, but ill stick with the traditional look. I shot a turkey this spring at ten feet and didnt seem to be too worried about my shotgun color!
