that would be exciting. If you get picked, what rifle are you going to use?

ORIGINAL: cayugad that would be exciting. If you get picked, what rifle are you going to use? I would bring two or three of them with me anyway. Then use the pro hunter as a last resort for long range.Would be neat with a ball and patch. |
RE: Kentucky elk draw
I didn't even know they had Elk. Good luck sounds like a good time.

RE: Kentucky elk draw
We actually have a number of small elk herds,in Wisconsin. There are close to, or over 400 elk currently in the Chequamegon Nicole National Forest.
Our Department of Natural Resources never gives out true numbers on anything they count. They lie about the deer herd numbers, the number of timber wolves, bear, you name it, and they will lie to you about it. Some day I am sure all of the big shots in our State will magically get all the permits for the first hunting of our elk herd. |

ORIGINAL: Gotbuck I didn't even know they had Elk. Good luck sounds like a good time. Gotbuckit only cost 10 dollars to get in the drawing that's it.They put them therea number of years ago and they are doing really good there, mild winters and plenty of food.Last year i found out to late. They only allowed 400 last year. |
RE: Kentucky elk draw
Only rule with the muzzleloader is 50 cal. or bigger |
RE: Kentucky elk draw
Read yesterday that the herd is estimated at over 10000, mostly in southeastern & southcentral Kentucky. Population has grown much faster than anticipated. They stopped bringing in new elk for release several years earlier than planned due partly to the fast herd growth & partly due to CWD importation concerns.

Going to use my Encore if I get a tag.

RE: Kentucky elk draw
I think those elk came from North Dakota. The Theodore Roosevelt National park has way to many. They won't let us ship out any more becausethey could havediseases. We do have a limited draw but not in the park. They are talking about hiring professional hunters to shoot them.

RE: Kentucky elk draw
I applied last year with no luck. But im gonna pass this year,as if I get drawn,i won't be able to come up withthe $365 non res elk tag, thats not counting your non res hunting license.I know it is cheaper than a out west hunt, but I wish i could afford it.

RE: Kentucky elk draw
I have sent off for Arkansas elk permits since they first started giving them out about 15 years ago. Never have gotten one before, but one of my buddy son got a cow permit a few years ago.

[/quote] 10 bucks!! I assume it is for in-state residents only and that's a fine deal. How long have they been there and are there any big bulls? I would be all fired up as well. |
RE: Kentucky elk draw
The year I drew - 2007 - 10% went to NR.
Same fee to enter but higher license if drawn - like everywhere. Steve |
RE: Kentucky elk draw
10 dollars to get in the lottery anybody can get in.Then if your are drawn you buy license.
