made me a round ball target today
With the season over almost a month ago I thought I would be through the withdrawals but unfortunately that isn't the case.
I am tired of punching paper so I made myself a round ball target today. We'll see how long it takes to get accurate at 25 and 50 yards. i plan on using my 54 cal. Lyman GPR 1:60 and my 50 cal. T/C Hawken with the Green Mountain barrel 1:70 twist. I know all you wood workers will groan and flinch when you see my handi-work but I hate building stuff unless it is a necessity. Let the fun begin!!:D |

We used to do that ... shoot the double bit axe, split the ball, and hit targets on both side of the blade. We never did it at 50 yards though. 25 was hard enough.

I'd sure hate to hurt that nice handle. Handles come dear around here.
At Rendezvous we used to play a game with tomahawks called handles. And you draw a card to see who goes first. He throws and sticks, and then everyone else tried to split his handle. The more hawks in the pan, the more dangerous it gets. Something else to shoot at (especially if you have snow).. take some charcoal briquettes, and string, tie them up, and hang them in the woods at different distances. When you hit them with a roundball they explode into black dust powder. Really fun. |

That is a very interesting target with a pistol, it will attract a lot of attention at a demonstration shoot. Lee

Can't golf so use the tees. Drill a bunch od hole in a cross bar and nail the cross bar t an upright. Put ehhgs on those tees to shoot. That is fun.

Boy great minds must think alike. I thought the same as a lot of you. There goes a new axe handle.
That golf tee idea sounds good buts lets make it even harder. How about just punching them into a piece of cardboard and shooting at the heads? Now there is a challenge. |

I used to shoot at an indoor archery range in Rapid City, SD. It was only about 30 -40 yards long. Guys there ( not me ) would get bored with drilling the center of the target so they would hang a ping pong ball from a string and hit it.
That wasn't hard enough so they would put a fan on the ball and get it swinging and still hit it on a regular basis. |

Been 5 long years but I think I'm ready .I can do this consistently with my 54 and my 58. So let's start a little shooting contest - anybody game?. Where's the Devil,I'm calling him out . My Pedersoli against his CVA :s2:
I guess MD is gone..? |
I would find an old single bit axe head without a handle. Maybe one with a wooden handle. The way I shoot that handle would not last one session

I lean against a tree when I hunt and shoot..... that's it. We hunt on state land and constantly move to new spots. No time for blinds beyond Day-3 of Opening Day and hardly ever get a deer afterwards. So my trips to the range see me shooting unassisted most times. Breathe deep and stay calm. Now you know why I never post my targets here. If I stay in a five inch target circle that day @ 50 yards, I'm ecstatic. No benchrest - no sandbags, unless I'm sighting-in a scope or rear sight. |

I don't get it?? Don't know what this proves. This is a luck of the draw. Don't care how good of a shot anyone is or how good a rifle may be, this is not something that can be repeated on a consistent basis.
Not trying to be a kill joy, but it is a wast of time. Or maybe you are just bored today!! :bash: |

Another really fun and inexpensive target is plastic soup spoons. You get yourself a corregated cardboard box of decent length (depending on the number of shooters) and stick the spoon handles in the corregation. Then shoot at the spoons. We used to do this many years ago almost every weekend with our flinters.
|
Spoons are too easy Bronko. Use forks, and shoot the tines off one at a time from left to right. :s2:

Paper Plates work for me. Can even attach a politician's picture to it now & then.

Can't do it here either, at the DNR-operated ranges.

Can't use pictures of real people at our club. They are too PC. Only LEOS can do this. Can't do it here either, at the DNR-operated ranges. |
The paper plate company I deal with is offering a 2 for 1 Photo Sale this week, to all muzzleloader members of this website. :fighting0007:

Well, you could always glue a picture of a pig to one paper plate and a picture of a jackass to another, and pretend they're Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.
