Shot some very good groups
I bought a t/c mold for maxi-balls that was supposed yo a 370g but all the bullets come out 365g or less. So I took a file to the back of bullet and filed them down to 362g and the results were great. I was putting bullets through bullet holes at 50 and 100 yards. Not bad for a 1 in 28 twist that was made to shoot sabots. My load was 90g pyro premium, 362g maxi, with a button patch on the back of it with T777 primers. I shot 40 rounds on Sat. at several different targets and had bullets grouping ataround an inch all day.

it sounds like you're all set. Good shooting and that load should be all you need.

Hey Big Paul, that's great shooting. You're shooting a Triumph, right? What was the purpose of reducing the bullet to 362 grains?

Very nice shooting! Any pics of the target? Just wondering, but why would you want to shoot round balls instead of sabots?

Pure lead should expand well. Chap |

Good shooting.

Good job. Getting a ML to shoot 1" groups at 100 yds is no easy task. Some centerfire rifles can't even do it.

There is nothing more true than this,i think everybody at one time or another thinks,i can do that. Then you go out and try,it's not as easy as it sounds.Good shooting Big Paul |

RE: Shot some very good groups
Semi,
the only reason for doing that to the bullet was to get them to the same weight. when they were coming out of the mold the weights would vary as mush as 5g. 30 years ago an old freind of my dad's was a competitive ML shooter, he would weigh out his bullets or round balls to the nearest grain, he claimed it helped eliminate the flyers we still talk about today. I can't say for sure but on Sat. when I shot I put 40 shots out on the range and not a single flyer. But like I said I'll have to shot a bunch more rounds and be able to duplicate what I did last weekend before I can say if this really works. I've got to say that the results were not what I would say is a typical day at the range for me, normaly I can shot well up to about 25 shots and that is all my back can take. Also here in Co. it is rare to have calm or no wind for a full day of shooting to take place. |
