I have some really old silver dollars - but I wuld have to find them - I am pretty sure a couple of them were late 1800 varety and some early 1900's, lead pennies, buffalo nickels and etc - they are all in an old cigar box - but I do not remeber where they are in the house... dang! that 1944 birthdate is showing up again... |
RE: Cash for your Coins
Dig em up and let me know what you got, Im a Honest Collector and not in the same catagory as a Coin Dealer, who wants to make a big profit. I pay what there worth, not 30-40% below market price. Ron

Ron, You better have a big wallet with all us old buggers in here. I know I have a cotton drawstring bag full of zinc pennies, buffalo nickels, wheat pennies, mercury dimes, silver quarters and halves, silver Kennedy halves and maybe a couple silver dollars.
It may be a good day to get them out and lay them on a white sheet and send you pics. For the pennnies - any particular dates you are interested in? |
RE: Cash for your Coins
No offense but I'll take my chances selling them to someone local.

RE: Cash for your Coins
Hi Bronko, If there Lincoln Pennys, most any dates fom 1909-1931. If you want me to get picky then 1909, 1909-S 1909 S VDB, 1914-D 1931-S, the last 4 are the most Expensive Dates in the Lincoln Series. I do have a Complete Set of Lincolns from 1909-2009. Im more into Buffalo Nickels, Older Silver Washington Quarters, Liberty Standing Quarters, Barber Quarters, Mecury Dimes, Barber Dimes,Barber Half Dollars, Walking Liberty Half Dollars, Franklin Half Dollars and 1964 Kennedy Half Dollars. Morgan Dollars and Peace Dollars. Then Old Large Cents, Half Cents, Indian Head Cents, and 1800's US Coins, and US Gold or Foreign Gold Coins.
As with any Coin, Condition Determines Value,Then Popularity of the Series, then Mintage. And as I stated above, NEVER EVER CLEAN A COIN, No matter how dirty it is or tarnished it is,leave it alone. A cleaned coin has No Value (except Face Value) My Pocket Book is always open to deal. Thank's and let me know what you have. I can pretty much give you a price (unseen) on most coins as long as I get a Denomination and a Date and Mintmark (if it has one)if need be I'll ask for picures. Ron (BP) |
RE: Cash for your Coins
I just sold off all my silver a while ago when the market was crazy. It was mostly all Engelhard bars with maybe 40 Mexican coins. I bought that stuff way back in the 80's when silver crashed and was around $3.90 an ounce for Mexican silver 1 troy ounce coinsand I think I paid .35 more over spot for the Engelhard bars. I had forgot all about it sitting in my safe deposit box. Then one day I was reading the futures market and noticed the price of silver. It was over $14.00 an ounce. So I went and pulled all the stuff out of the box, and cashed them in. I have a few coin collections but nothing really of big value. Although my great nephews and nieces are sure interested in the stuff.
Speaking of coin collections.. I knew a person that collected silver dimes, quarters, etc.. he had sets of them and I mean sets. His hobby was metal detecting and he'd find all kinds of stuff. He even found two oldglass mason jars buried along an old fence line on an abandon farm once, full of old coins. He came home one day and his kid was playing a video game that the boy somehowrented. The the old man refused to rent itfor him because the young man refused to do chores around the house (my dad had a different way of convincing you to do your chores). He asked him where he got the money from and the kid would not talk. The wife only knew he came home with the game.. Yup, he hit the old mans coin collection and cashed in his silvercoins at a convenience/video store. |
RE: Cash for your Coins
As for prices, I usually pay around $2.50 ea for silver Quarters, $5.00 ea for Silver Half Dollars, $20.00 ea for Silver Dollars and $1.00 ea for Silver Dimes. Now some of these could command a better price depending on Condition and year and Mintmark. Modern Silver (Silver Eagles) $14.50ea. As for all the other coins I mentioned above, Buffalo Nickels, Indian Head Pennys, ect I'd have to see what you have to make an offer. BP

RE: Cash for your Coins
I found a half dime coin a few years ago any guess on a value low to high. It's tarnished a bit but I never cleaned it.
