Involuntary Customer Service Test
The recent posts about customer service going to pot in some companies is depressing.
Sincethe Mustang's firing pinbroke last week-end I'll be conducting an involuntary customer service test myself. Lyman's web site says to send it to Dixon's muzzleloading in Pennsylvania for factory repair. I put it in the mail yesterday around noon. Hoping for the best. I'll let you guys know how it goes. |
RE: Involuntary Customer Service Test
Did you call Lyman first? When my Trade Rifle needed some screws, I called Lyman and they sent them to me. I thought maybe the firing pin was just a part that you could replace as well.

RE: Involuntary Customer Service Test
I did consider doing that Cayugad, but decided not to. I took the major part of the receiver assembly apart about a month after I got the gun to do a trigger job, but didn't disassemble the firing pin mechanism. A little light honing improved the trigger somewhat, but it still isn't great. I included a letter with the receiver when I sent it to Dixon's yesterday asking them to address the trigger pull also. I sure hope this doesn't end up costing me half the value of the gun.

Hope they treat you right buddy, bet they will if they understand the power of that Loosiana voodoo.

RE: Involuntary Customer Service Test
Thanks Headhunter. It's a two year old rifle with a one year warranty, so I'll be at their mercy. There's a lot to be said for TC's lifetime warranty.

Semi, do you have any Bore Butter?

That's not an encouraging thought UC. :D I sure don't plan to do any "spriments" along that line. I hope Dixon's doesn't either. [:-]

RE: Involuntary Customer Service Test
Something I really liked about My CVA ACCURA, is the firing pin and spring can be removed and cleaned (or fixed) by loosening a screw, simple as that. Good Luck on yours and hope it's better than new when you get it back.I know you like to play with your trigger mechs to make em lighter and smoother, but have you ever tried (Molly Lube) on them? it's a Dry Film Lubricant that goes on wet and dries to leave a super slick surface and does not attract or hold dust, and contains no ptfe. I have used it on trigger mechs and when I was done they felt 100% smoother and felt like they had been worked on, the stuff is amazing. Expensive though, about $35+ a can. BP

Never tried it B-Plug. Doesit stay on for a long time? If it works that well it would be worth the money, especially with a number of guns to use it on.

RE: Involuntary Customer Service Test
+1 on the moly lube, will also slick up the moving lock parts inside your flinters & percussions. The stuff I use is Birchwood Casey, probably not as high grade as what breechplug uses, since it's only $4.95 a can at the local gun store, but it's also a spray-on that dries to a film.
