How does this look

My new Nikon Omega came today, so I had to take the other off and mount the Omega. It looks great and fits great one the rifle. I think it will be really close in the bore sight. Maybe tomorrow I will get a chance to find out.

I think this will really be a good asset to the rifle. The other scope will be a spare or perhaps a back up scope should I need to go hunting on a trip somewhere. Always good to have two scopes.

See now! I agree with that - in fact i tell Terry that all the time - I had her read read your comment.... she looked, stared at me, turned and walked off... did not say a word...

This Nikon Omega is clear as a bell. It really seems like a small scope for being a 40mm. I want to see just how far this Genesis can really shoot.

It does look really short... how long is it?

It probably is the only 40mil scope you have on a ML isn't it????

SL - I had two rifle that had 40mm scopes.. one was a Sighton S1-3-9x40. I managed to shake that apart and they mailed me a new one. Its still in the box. The other was a Millet Buck 3-9x40mm. I like the scope but liked the Nikon Pro Staff more, so I replaced it and then never put it back on a rifle. I was always going to put that on a sidelock. And I just took a 40mm off the Genesis. That was a 1.5-6x40mm Traditions. I might throw that on the Black Diamond XR.

WVM - you really need to get out there and shoot that rifle. :D

:D Women often do that when faced with an obvious truth that they wish were not so. :D:D

Nice looking set-up Cayugad. By the way, I see in the background of your picture that you keep funnel spouts on your powder canisters. I never was comfortable doing that - figuring it was not as tight a seal (for humidity) as the screw cap. Maybe I've been worrying about a non-issue.

RE: How does this look

I've kept spouts on the pounds of powder for years. Never had a problem. Although a pound of powder might not last a month in my house. I just re spouted two pounds the other day. On the goex metal spouts, over the tip I put a tire valve stem cover.

That looks awesome! I got my Omega today and can't wait to get it mounted on the Endeavor. I just need my base/rings now.

cayugad 02-12-2009 02:33 PM

RE: How does this look

Speaking of rings.. I had a couple sets of the Tradition Quick Release rings around the house. I took a brand new set out for the Omega and could not get the mount screws to set tight... One of the bases was drilled wrong or something. So I called Traditions. Told them the problem. They looked me up on computer. And told me they would throw a new set in the mail for me today.. That's pretty good service.

My friends call that section of my house.. "the store" because of all the stuff I keep on hand. The other room is the "Armory."

Dave, where do you get the thing that's holding your ML? what are they called and are they for like working on the ML and cleaning it, or can you also use it when your sighting in or shooting too? It looks like it would make everything a-lot easier! BP

RE: How does this look

That is a Caldwell Steady Rest $19.99 gun rest from Natchess.Com. I use that on the shooting bench because it is light and easy to move around. I do minor work on the rifle, like mounting scopes off it. But it is not meant for working off of. Still, I donothing real massive.

When they had these all plastic rests on sale, I really wondered if I would like them. Now I wish I had bought two of them. In the summer I leave it out on the bench and it washes itself. Winter it gets too cold and it freezes to the bench.

Breechplug 02-12-2009 07:09 PM

RE: How does this look

So can you use it to shoot from, as a rest? or do you just use it to hold your ML while your not using it?

cayugad 02-12-2009 07:44 PM

RE: How does this look

:D:D I use that to shoot off of. Its fully adjustable and light weight. It also had a pocket in the center that holds my short starter, capper, de capper, powder measure, and patches when I am shooting. Its actually a very handy rest. Although it did take some getting used to.

Thank's Dave, I like it and will get one if there still available. Ron (BP)
