Credit Card Rate Increases
Off The Subject, but if any of you have got an INCREASE in yout Credit card INTREST RATE as I DID. Call your Credit Card Company and ask them to REVIEW your Account and tell them your Intrest Rate went UP, and you DONT LIKE IT and want it where it WAS BEFOR. And THEY WILL CHANGE IT BACK TO WHERE IT WAS BEFOR.I got 3 of my Credit Cards back to 4.99% and 5.99% that were RAISED to 9.99% and 10.99%. As LONG AS YOU HAVE BEEN MAKING YOUR PAYMENTS AND HAVE NOT MISSED ANY OR DEFAULTED ON YOUR CARD THEY WILL DO IT.Dont be AFRAID TO DO THIS IT WILL WORK. The Bank's got ENOUGH of our TARP MONEY and they have NO REASON to SCREW the AMERICAN TAX-PAYERS OUT OF ANOTHER CENT AFTER WE BAILED THEM OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!
BREECHPLUG JUST SAVED YOU SOME MONEY SO NOW GO AND SPEND IT ON ANOTHER MUZZLELOADER! GOD BLESS THE U.S.A. AND THE AMERICAN PEOPLE! WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!! |

RE: Credit Card Rate Increases
I learned that credit cards were a poor man's poison about ten years back. Used a savings account to pay every one off, and cancelled all but one. I was paying more in interest on the card than I was getting in the savings account.
I kept one for convenience - like internet orders - and emergencies, but have not paid a cent of interest on it in the last ten years because I pay it off every month. VISA probably hates me. |

RE: Credit Card Rate Increases
My two biggies for a credit card are a substantial grace period for payoff and no annual fees.
The things are great so long as you pay them off in full when the bill comes. |
RE: Credit Card Rate Increases
I have a dividend mastercard. I get back 1% on most purchases, and 2% on gas, groceries and at drug stores. I put everything I can on it. All my normal bills, like electicity, internet, dish network, cell phone, and land line phone. When I get $50.00 accruded I call them on a 800 number and they send me a check. I have gotten $1070.00 from them and haven't paid any interest. No wonder they are going broke. I only have to send one check instead of several at 42 cents. Going up to 44 in May.

RE: Credit Card Rate Increases
Dont get me wrong, I HATE CREDIT CARDS TOO! But I have a Cabela's Visa Card and it pay's 1% cash back on every purchase, and 2% on all Cabela's purchases. I too pay ALL my bills and buy everything I would normally pay Cash With, with this card, and when the bill comes every month I pay it in full. No Intrest payments incurred and FREE MONEY back to me. It's nice when Hunting Season comes around I have around $120.00 in FREE money to spend at Cabela's on Hunting Stuff. BP

RE: Credit Card Rate Increases
I use credit cards all the time. Anything I purchase I put on a card that have a cash back bonus. I pay all my bills in fact with them. Why?? Last year I got a couple hundred dollars in cash, back. The trick is, at the end of the month, when the bill comes in, pay the entire balance off. I set my credit cards up just like a check book account on the computer. As I pay out, I deduct and never over draw on the account. I've been doing it this way for years and never paid a cent of interest, refuse any card that has an annual fee, and watch what their grace periods are for payback. Also watch the ones that send you a bill on the 3rd and need their payment on the 10th. They are betting you will not get to it and they can hit you for the interest.

RE: Credit Card Rate Increases
Nothing wrong with credit cards as long as you use some fiscal discipline. If I use cash or a debit card, I pay 100% of the cost. If I use my Cabelas card, I really pay 99% because I get points off my next Cabelas order. If I use my Discover card, I get I think 2-5% off depending the purchase. When I was a Starwood Preferred Guest American Express holder, I got a ton of points that helped save on hotel rooms when we go on vacation (but American Express ticked me off so I canceled it).
Just pay them off and don't use them as a loan mechanism. I have no idea what our minimum balance is, my wife just pays them off every month. If you get in trouble about the worst you can do is start racking it up on a credit card, then you are HOSED even worse it just takes a few months longer. |
RE: Credit Card Rate Increases
Cayugad's method has worked for me for about 35 years. i put much of my business expense onmy Cabela's Visa card: Lots of points for free stuff at years end.
