50 cal Omega sabot/bullet recommendations

I have a 50 cal Omega and have been working on a full bore conical load for the past couple years since that is what I will be required to use in Colorado................. if I ever get drawn.
I haven't paid a lot of attention to sabot/bullet combinations since I needed to get the other load workedup first. I know that I have seen recommendations in the past for the Harvester short black or MMP-HPH24 sabot. What sabot/bullet combination would you recommend for huntingwhitetail deer/hogs in an Omega?
PS. I intend to stick with peep sights so extreme range performance will not be an issue. I hope to keep all of my shots within 100 yards.

I can tell you what I use and I would not hesitate using the load on hogs either..

For deer I shoot 110 grains T7-2f - .451/260 grain Nosler Partition HP in a HPH-24 sabot.

For elk everything is the same except I switch to a .458/300 grain Nosler Partition PP in a HPH Orange MMP sabot.

I'm a true believer in 300 grain Speer Gold Dots (Speer #3974) in Claybuster/Harvester short black sabots (Harvester P/N H5045SB).

You want expansion and penetration at a reasonable price? Go Gold Dot.

I have used 250 and 300gr XTP's and 250 and 300gr SW and 250 and 300gr Gold Dot and the Hornady 350 gr FPB, I have and use the 260 gr Nosler to but not on medium game. I find that they will all do a decent job if placed right but I prefer the 250 gr Gold Dot and the FPB for hog hunting, the 250 Gold Dot for deerand the 250 gr SW for any place I might have to shoot over 150yds. My load with my Omega Z5 is T7 209, 2 50/50 pyrodex pellets, and a 260 grain Precision Rifle Extreme. does nice job on deer and the 180 pound boar I shot last weekend.

As you can see crb, we're all in agreement as to the best bullet. And we're all right too! :D The great fun of muzzleloaders is playing around with components and finding what YOU like and what works for you.

Funny thing is they are all right, and you could add the Barnes and several others to that list....it comes down to trying them and what the gun will shoot.

Like I've said before, I think the differences between bullets are over-hyped. Most of them work just great.

My Omega likes the 250gr. Shockwave and a Harvester short black sabot. If you can get the .430/300 gr.Hornady XTP(Harvester Green sabot) or the .451/260 gr.Nosler partition (harvester short black or crush rib sabot) to shoot well in your gun then I would definatley give them a try on hogs. I have killed hogs with the 250'gr Shockwave also and they worked perfect but since you are going to stay with shots under 100 yards then you don't need the flat shooting capabilities of the Shockwave.
