CVA Customer Service A+++ Thank's MountainDevil54
I recently had a forum regarding the ( Barrel-Lug ) on My CVA ACCURA and MountianDevil54 told me to contac Mark Hendricks at CVA. Well I did and he was right on the problem. He told me to ship the ML back asap and he would replace it with a new one. He contacted Thomas MacAulay and told him of the problem and told Thomas to send me a pre-paid UPS label and ship the ML back. Mark also told me as soon as My return was in the UPS system he would ship me a new ACCURA. Well talk about FAST! I shipped the ML out on Friday and as soon as Thomas got the information on Monday (today) My new ACCURA was shipped and on it's way to me. And they have'nt even received the one I sent to them yet! Now talk about Customer Satisfaction! Can anyone beat that, let's see if TC will do that. I'll post my findings on the problem of my barrel lug problem as soon as Mark let's me know. Thank's Mark and Thomas at CVA, and Thank You MountainDevil for hooking me up With Mark. He's a Great Guy!

Excellent news!!
And you're very welcome. Mark helped me a lot with an X-150 i had with load data and such. Great guy to talk. Let us know how the new Accura is. |
RE: CVA Customer Service A+++ Thank's MountainDevil54
Mark is also the guy I had communication with relative to the lower limits set by CVA for maximum loading recommendations. With my comments and apparently a few others he addressed the problem and they are now revising their manuals to be inline with the competition. I had asked about why they had not tested at elevated levels and he assured me that the testing was done but they only recommended what they thought was an efficient load but with longer barrels more powder could be used so they have upped the recommended maximums. He is quick to respond which impressed me also.

RE: CVA Customer Service A+++ Thank's MountainDevil54
Today, I just had an opportunity to use CVA Customer Service. I have shot my old CVA Staghorn Magnum so much that the screw that holds the trigger assembly is worn and will not grasp, and the washer is worn. So I figured I would use their customer service and fix that part. So I contacted CVA and told them I needed the trigger screw and trigger washer. I explained that I have worn it out in use.
They emailed me back a PDF file. It is a schematic of the CVA Staghorn Magnum,so I can get the right part number, and then a PDF file that opens up into an order form. The trigger screw is $1.00 so I ordered two, fora spare. And the Washer is .50 cents so I ordered two of them as well. Shipping is $5.00 for all orders under $30.00 though. So shipping is pretty good... Well the order form is filled out, and the check is in the mail. Maybe CVA customer service might not care as much about their older model rifles.. so keep that in mind. |

RE: CVA Customer Service A+++ Thank's MountainDevil54
Yes they are some really good shooting guns for the money, can't beat them. I like the sst on it thats for sure.
Mine has a high dollar tasco on it:D |
RE: CVA Customer Service A+++ Thank's MountainDevil54
Well I get them new trigger screws and get it all back to new condition it shoud be fine again. I like shooting the rifle. I never shoot more then 90 grains with it normally. But it will shoot about anything I stick down the barrel very well. Mine also shoots Shockwaves well.

RE: CVA Customer Service A+++ Thank's MountainDevil54

RE: CVA Customer Service A+++ Thank's MountainDevil54
When i ordered my 209 conversion kit,well i had my wife order it while i was at work cause i was busy that
day they refused to sell it to her before they knew the year of the gun because of the recall.So she had to call me and i had to tell her where it was, which row, color, blah,blah,blah by the the time i got done with her i could have called them 5 times.But the point of the story is they at least cared that it could have been bad. |

Ron -
CVA declined to providespecificationsor to rate their barrells. Instead theyrecommendedthat I use the following sabot in my gun. Cabela's has them for$22 at 15 count. Reviewsread well. http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0049036216422a.shtml The one we recommend is the slick load sabot Slick-Load™Sabots AC1563 -.50 cal., 250 Grain AC1564 -.50 cal., 300 Grain 15 Pack $27.95 Horizontal flutes make it the easiest loading sabot and provide a better gas seal while holding the sabot securely in the barrel. RE: CVA Customer Service A+++ Thank's MountainDevil54
I never was a Big fan of the Powerbelts and have'nt tried the slick-loads so I cant say either way if they'll work good or not in your ML. I have tried a-lot of Sabots in My CVA's (have 5 of them) and all of the one's I have shoot the 204gr. HP XTP Mags the best. I was getting them from Cabela's in a blister pack from TC. They are the (TC Mag ExPress Sabots XTP's) item # IK-213839 for $12.99 a 30 pack. Look at the reviews from others who have used tem from Cabela's. You can also get them in different sizes (The Hornadays XTP's) in bulk from Cabela's and save a-lot of money this way and also the sabots. Of course CVA is going to recommended their Sabots for their ML's, as it's their product, but there are a-lot more better choices out there for your ML that will shoot and preform a-lot better. Good Luck and I hope you find that perfect combination for your ML. Let us know what you decide and how it work's for you. Ron........check Cabela's for the Hornadays in Bulk (100) item # XZ-21-3189 for the 180gr to 300gr XTP's $21.99 Happy Shooting! This bullet wont let you down!

RE: CVA Customer Service A+++ Thank's MountainDevil54
They sent you a pre-paid shipping label?? That's a point for them over T/C.....
|
RE: CVA Customer Service A+++ Thank's MountainDevil54
Boy, I better slow down on the key-board when I type my reply's, I see I forgot how to spell!!!! YES, CVA sent me a (Pre-Paid) Shipping Label (UPS) to send in My ML, Not only did they do that, but as soon as I had it shipped and my UPS information was in the UPS's system, my replacement was shipped, befor CVA even received the one I shipped! Total time (One Week) from the time I shipped my ML to them and received my replacement, you cant beat that. And I shipped it on a Thursday, so Sunday does'nt count, 6 days total.

RE: CVA Customer Service A+++ Thank's MountainDevil54
Thanks, Ron. If I was to purchasethe bulk bullets (XZ-21-3189), do you know, or can you recommend, thesabot to match the Thompson Center XTP Mag Sabots(IK-213839)set-up in .50 cal?
|
RE: CVA Customer Service A+++ Thank's MountainDevil54
Im not exactly sure wich sabot would be the right one as I have purchased mine in the bulk (30) pack bullets and sabots from TC. I'd give Allan a call at Harvester Sabots, tell him what bullet you are using and Im sure he can help you. Allan @ Harvester Sabots Phone # 1-800-922-6287 Does anyone else out there know what sabot to use? Again, and someone quote me if Im wrong. The Bullets (hornadays) 240gr. HP XTP Mags that I get in the TC 30 bulk pack are a (Muzzle Loading Bullet) made to preform better in ML's and they are not a (Pistol Bullet) as the one's you buy in bulk of 100 from Hornaday. Hornaday made this bullet special for the use in ML's

RE: CVA Customer Service A+++ Thank's MountainDevil54
When you look at the bulk bullets look to see whether they are .44 caliber or .45 caliber. Next look at their diameter. That will tell you want sabot to purchase. If they are .430 diameter (44 caliber)and you have a tight bore then I recommend the green Harvester Crushed Rib sabots. If not tight, then the green .429-.430 Knight (MMP) work real good.
If they are .451-.452 (45 caliber) then you need the black harvester crushed rib sabots for the tight bores or the MMP black sabots for the loose bore. If they are .457-.458 then you need the orange MMP sabots for them. |
RE: CVA Customer Service A+++ Thank's MountainDevil54
Hi Cayugad, this is what is say's on the plastic container (Thompson Center Mag-Xpress Sabots with XTP Bullets) .50 Cal. 240gr. XTP Bullet. Does this help determine the size of the sabot? The item # from Cabela's for these are ( IK-213839 )I would also like to know if these Bullets from Hornaday are the same ones I can purchase in bulk of 100 to save some money, and also the size of sabot. Also these are the (HP XTP Mag's) and they dont say that on the container. Thank's for your time. Ron
