MARBLES FOR PRACTICE
 

you might think i am losing my marbles but i read somewhere that some are using MARBLES instead of lead rb for target practice.

anyone do this?:)

You probably read it from Roundball on the Trad website or on the NC website...He has used several alternative balls for practice...

I mold my own for my .40 and .54 and get lead free from my dentist...It's a novel idea, but they don't fly the same as real lead balls...

That to me just does not seem like it would work. Now I never tried it. And have no intention of doing so.So whether or not it works... :eek: BUT it just does not sound like a good idea to me.

Heck, I use marbles all the time for target practice. I just set em up on a board about 100 yds out and knock themoff with me ol flinter.
Its real easy with some practice.

(all ya have to do is hit the board once)

i was trying to find article of guy that does it and even said he can recover the marbles at times not broke.:)

Never tried that, but once made a small cannon in highschool shop class. We shot small marbles with a 20-30 gr charge of BP. They went pretty good, but still slow enough to watch easily. We didn't make it for performance, only the novelty of it. Boy would you get in trouble for doing that today.

you wanna have fun w/out loosing your marbles? Drill holes in a 2x4 and glue golf tees into the holes. Take thatout fifty ye]ards and put eggs on the golf tee for paractice. Fun and fairly cheap practice. Not like Bronk though, hitting the board once donesn;t count! :)

Another fun target, and what I used to do when I was younger and my eyes were sharper is to get a large cardboard box and stick the handles of plastic spoons in the corregations about every 2 or 3". Then we would set the box up about 50 or so yards and take turns knocking the spoon parts off.
What a blast. There was about 7 or 8 of us and we all had flinters. It was great practice especially when your 'friends' were busting on you while you were trying to aim.
